YES, I know – almost every other local blog and food website has featured this cafe and yes, I am perhaps 2 years late, but better late than never, right? I finally decided to give this cafe a try, just to see what all the hype is about. One thing that distinguishes this cafe from the rest is its black exterior, which exudes a gloomy, do-not-enter kind of vibe which is a total contrast to its almost always packed with patrons and ‘full house’ interior. This is where the saying “do not judge a book by its cover” is apt. The inside felt welcoming and you get a sense of tranquility, this cafe provides a pleasant silence from the sounds of the city – the loud noises, cars everywhere.
** Sorry for the blur picture, it was taken in a rush, lots of people at the counter =)
Soft Shell Crab Burger, 26 Ringgit
Okay, first up, notice how the crab meat was presented as though it came with its shell? Damn, that takes some skills. I do not think its body will even be connected to its tentacles if I were to do it, bits and parts will literally be scattered everywhere. There was not a single bit of its shell anywhere within the burger, none. How amazeballs is that?
Anyways, this is a wholesome meal, not one of those you can add on a dessert with – no. It is very filling. The burger was delicious! However, I would suggest to remove the egg from the burger, it sort of dilutes the crabs’ taste. If you are a real crabby fan, remove the egg and eat it separately. Just put the buns and the soft shell crab together and bite on it – yummmm!. Sooooooo niceeeee! Although I would have loved the crab meat a little crunchier, its awesome the way it is. Not much flavors were added to the crab itself – so it retains its natural crabbiness. The buns comes with mayonnaise and some spices. The whole combination + crab was very yummy. Do give this dish a go if you are a crab lover.
Turkish Style Eggs, 25 Ringgit
Okay this was a flavorful dish. It consisted of an array of ingredients – chickpeas, eggs, chipolata, Greek yogurt, pistachio and pomodoro sauce. Some of those combinations may sound YUCKY, but trust me – it tasted so good. Visually, it may seem like a light dish and all, but nope – it really is filling. Sooo filling that I could not even finish the dish. To be able to enjoy this dish to its fullest, I suggest consuming it on an empty stomach. Consuming it any other way would be a waste of money, time and taste. Its a hearty and wholesome dish, a milky dish too due to the yogurt, so imagine that. If that does not enable you to reasonably foresee its fullest, I do not know what will, lol.
I would order this dish again, most definitely. No second thoughts whatsoever, but perhaps only if I am sharing it with another. In terms of $$$, I would rather order the soft shell crab burger.
Would I head here again?
