The Owls Cafe @ Bukit Jalil – They put a spin on waffles, a good one.

So, a little birdie told me that this cafe offers awesome waffles for dessert, which explains why I am reviewing this cafe today, for lunch. The cafe name speaks for itself, naturally – you would assume owl art here and there in the cafe, but boy, do they take it to a new level. Literally every corner you turn – there is an owl. However, the fact that the art is presented in a variety of forms, it is pretty eye pleasing.

The atmosphere inside is vibrant and welcoming. You get an exciting/cheerful vibe there. Customer service is good and pleasant.

This cafe is listed on Waze, however due to the fact that there is 2 branches of this cafe, there are two different locations available for selection, each located 5-10 minutes away from each other. The one I visited was The Owl Cafe, located in the midst of rows of thriving shop lots in Jalan Jalil Jaya. The other branch is named New Chapter by The Owls Cafe and located in the Calvary Convention Center Bukit Jalil. I have not tried the latter, only the former.  Why I am mentioning this is because Waze got cranky on me and insisted I go to the branch in the convention center and once the location is reached, it is then that I can select the correct location and head there. It was no biggie, it was not a case of me having to go opposite directions and drive around in circles and waste fuel – nope, not at all. I just thought I should mention this slight complication, lol.

Okay, I am a fan of dessert waffles but these sort of main meal/lunch waffles that has eggs and tomatoes and salmon – lets just say I was pretty hesitant in giving this or any other non dessert waffles available here, but for the sake of reviewing.blogging – I sucked it up and ordered this dish. Why this dish in particular? Well, because me loveeee salmon.

I must say, this was a delicious and filling meal. The waffle may look  heavily filling – the kind whereby you eat half and you are already full but nope, that is not the case here. This waffle was light and fluffy and a tad sweet, which was great. Then, there is the scrambled eggs on the top – milky soft delicious scrambled eggs, accompanied with a generous serving of 4 thick slices of smoked salmon. Oooo man oooo man oooo man! Me is in heaven, yawwwwwwww! A spoonful of fluffy waffle, soft and moist scramble egg, some smoked salmon and bits of cherry tomatoes – Yummy ! It is certainly a lunch worthy dish.

Would you just look at that beautiful yummy thing?? This was the dessert waffle I decided on. It comprised of a matcha based waffle, topped with a scoop of black sesame and coconut ice cream, red bean cream, oranges and sprinkle of pistachios. It is definitely a dessert I would order again. It was the perfect mix of sweet, creamy, a pinch of sourness and lightness. So mouth-wateringly delicious.

Would I head here again?

Yes, most definitely yes. When and if I am in Bukit Jalil, this would be on my go to list.
