Crema Crema @ PJ New Town – Lucky discovery (Permanently CLOSED)

This was back when we Malaysians had to get our credit cards renewed and I was at the Maybank branch in PJ Old Town. This was down to the last week before deadline so literally every branch nationwide had droves and droves of people visiting it. I was already waiting 30 minutes in and it looked like I still had a long way to go. Since I was starving, decided that this was a good time to faster grab lunch nearby. Barely walked 5 minutes around the corner and there stood Crema Crema. There isn’t much cafes here compared to restaurants, but that is slowly changing. I was caught by surprise though that there was a cafe around this corner. Just visualize PJ Old Town as an island and lets just say while cafes have been gradually popping up in the area, there has been very few on this side of the island. I think the cafe is very strategically located. Although there is quite a number of restaurants here, being one of the very few cafes on this stretch would certainly see an influx of people. Not only for the peeps who work here but also for those who regularly frequent this area for their daily businesses – Crema Crema offers a change of scene.

The inside of the cafe was cosy and relaxing. It was quirky as well with its art on the wall. It is the kind of cafe you go whenever you need a ‘take five’. The area surrounding this cafe is always busy, what not with banks and clinics and offices all around it. Crema Crema provides an outlet of relaxation from that busy world.

The food menu was pretty awesome as well. It was designed in a journal-like manner, those also similar to a newsletter. Fascinating.

rededit

If you fancy something healthy – no flour and excessive flavoring, just plain old baked chicken breast with some fresh green salad + tomato on the side, this would make the cut.  The chicken was delicious, it was tender yet crunchy at the same time. The black pepper sauce was not overpowering and complimented the chicken well. If I am around the area again and I fancy something simple yet yummy, I would give this dish a go again.

I do not usually like waffles in exchange with the regular burger buns or one of those gourmet bread but this was pretty good. The waffles from my prior experiences were usually too thick and overpowering that you can taste more waffles than whatever that makes up the rest of the burger. It was not the case however with this burger. The waffle used here was thin and crisp, which was really good because I was able to taste the fish patty, cheese and sauce. The fish patty was crispy, crunchy on the outside and had quite a lot of fish in it. I enjoyed this waffle burger very much. It was just what I needed to feed my hunger.

Would I head here again?

Yes, I would love to. If I am somewhere along Jalan Gasing or Pj Old Town, I would definitely drop by.
