I was actually heading to the cafe opposite of Patty & Pie called Pebble’s Place. However, despite Google and their very own Facebook page stating that they ” ARE OPEN ” , they were not. Yes, they were ” CLOSED. ” So, since I was in the area – Aman Suria ( in case you do not know where that is – it is located opposite the Kelana Jaya train station. 5 minutes into that neighborhood is Aman Suria). might as well explore some other cafes, since there are plenty around and decided on Potty & Pie.
This cafe focuses mostly on Burgers and Pizza, as evident from their menu. They provide a variety of choices ( 9 selections of burgers & 13 selections of pizza). So, you most probably would not have a problem deciding what you want. They also have desserts in case you need them but trust me – you wont, just having the burger/pizza itself will keep you feel the rest of the day.
Swiss Mushroom Burger (B4), 24 ringgit
Oooooo man, this was the bomb! It was a really good chicken burger, one of the best I have tried so far, hands down. The burger is made up of a thick chicken patty, Swiss cheese, deep fried pickled mushroom, garlic and parsley. The dish is also accompanied by fries sprinkled with spices and parsley. Can you see the cheese on that patty? If you like those stretchy cheese – the kind you see on a Pizza advert, then this would definitely do it for you. The chicken patty was crunchy and meaty. First time I have tasted mushrooms in a non vegetarian burger but it was delicious, the fried mushroom only added to the crunchiness of the burger as a whole. The fries felt fresh, it was not overly oily and the spices that were sprinkled on it allowed a unique kind of taste that was yummy. This is definitely a dish I would order again.
Pizza Aloha (P8), 31 ringgit
The pizza here does not come by slices but pans, as in the whole pizza. They are 2 pan sizes available – 10 inch & 14 inch. I went by the 10 inch pizza, as that was the smaller one and it came with 6 slices. Aloha consisted of smoked chicken, mozzarella cheese, white sauce, pineapples, jalapenos, garlic and mushrooms. This tasted sooooo good. That is all I can say. It had the right amount of spice, hotness, flavor, cheesiness, the chicken bits came in generous amount and each slice were crunchy while thick and moist. The whole experience was fascinating because you get to watch the pizza being made from scratch, right down from the pizza dough. You get to see them throw the dough up into the air a few time and then turning it round and round to create the shape. Then you watch them slather the ingredients onto it and watch them put the pizza into the oven. The oven is very old school – the kind with fire and coal. It sure was an eye opener to watch the whole process taking place and when it arrives on my table, it was sooo delicious. Another dish I would order again and again. I loved it!
Would I head here again?
Hell, yeah ! Again and again.
