Hello by Kitchen Mafia @ Happy Mansion, Section 17 – Better late than never, lol

Okay, so my friends would probably laugh their ass off now that I am admitting to this but YES! I am one of those who somehow missed this eatery despite it being around since 2015 and me living barely 10 minutes away. I finally got around to giving it a try and I must say I am glad it did. It was overall an awesome experience.

Attached to the block of flats that also houses Butter & Beans at Seventeen and Food Foundry, Hello occupies a corner lot. As weird as it may sound, I have driven around the block a couple of times to head to Food Foundry but I somehow missed this. My friends mentioned Hello many times over the years but I kept missing it but hey – better late than never lol.

So, this was what I experienced as soon as I walked in – full house, yawwwww! I usually get anxious when I am cooped up in a crowded space but I had no issues here. While everything and everyone were pretty close to one another, the arrangements were such that it allowed space, which did wonders for me – I can breathe.

As soon as you enter Hello, you are greeted and seated, given a menu and is requested to order at the counter once ready.

Dark Chocolate Brownie, 9.91 ringgit

If I was smoking weed – this is what I would say – Maaaannnn, this is dope!  For real. As I was paying, I saw this brownie on display – yum! I figured, while waiting for lunch to arrive – why not munch on this. I did not fancy anything overly sweet, however, upon discovering that this was specifically dark chocolate, I decided to give this ago. Yay! It was not indulgingly sweet but nevertheless decadent. It was a mixture of gooey dark chocolate + coconut shreds + nuts. Loved it!

Duck Egg Calamari, 13.68 ringgit

Decided to order myself something of the tapas variety and from the options offered, I opted on Duck Egg Calamari. I don’t know anything about duck egg but for me the sauce all over the fried calamari tasted like salted egg sauce – which I Loveeeeee! The dish overall was delicious. I wish the tapas came in XL size though, since I had to share (albeit reluctantly) – I did not have enough. AS you can probably derived from the image above, the calamari was crunchy and chewy and the sauce was thick and flavorful. Delicious, thats what it was.

Asian Pesto, 21.70 ringgit

As you can probably gather from my previous postings – I love pesto! Pesto sandwiches and pesto pasta, love them. I usually like them kindda soaked and covered in plenty of pesto, which was not the case here – that being said, I liked it. Lets just say this was a more tone down version of what I usually fancy but no less yummy. There was plenty of flavor, the pesto was evident, plenty of chicken bits and seeds/nuts scattered everywhere. Again – I had to share this dish, albeit a lil reluctantly because just like the tapas – this pasta was yummy, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, lol.

Would I head here again?

Of course. The ambiance, food was really good. Totally worth coming back for more.
