I read about this new cafe online and was excited to give it a go since I am a fan of Japanese inspired ‘don’ – rice bowls. Based on the images I saw – it became apparent to me that they do serve a few varieties of the ‘don’ among other things, yay! So, this is how I found my way here with my cafe buddy, on a Friday noon, intending to have yummy lunch.
The cafe is simplistic – black, white, grey. Quiet with soft music in the background, tables are relatively spaced out. It is the kind of place you would feel comfortable having some food or drinks on your own, without company.Β
Ahi Tuna Rice Bowl, 20 ringgit
Was soooo looking forward to this dish. The first thing I did was taste the tuna and yay! It was fresh yawwww. Then, I started mixing it all up – the rice and the egg, took a spoonful of it and then my happiness level kindda decreased a bit? Despite mixing the rice with the egg, the rice was still a lil hard/solid? Usually, what I would get is rice of the more moist and soft variety but that wasnt the case here. The egg too was a lil too well done. The ones that usually accompanies a don would be of the more half done variety, whereby when you break into the yolk – it oozes out. Here though, there was no oozing out. Thank god it still had the softness to it that enabled me to sort of mix it with the rice. You may think I am just being a big fuss but I just like my Don, so yea…. I would most probably give this a miss the next time.
Chicken Sandwich, 15 ringgit
This chicken sandwich was yummy. It was a simple dish – bread + chicken + mayo and a side of salad but it sure was yummy. Unlike many other sandwiches which usually comes with layers of fillings, this one just had 2 – chicken and mayo. Perhaps the mayo was homemade because it sure was out of this world. I literally thought there was some melted cheese in there when there werent but the mayo definitely gave some extra flavors to the whole dish. Yummy!
Would I head here again?
Maybe? If I am in the area? I most probably would drop by for the sandwiches because they were yummy. As for the rice bowls, I would give the Ahi Tuna a miss but I am open to trying the other available rice bowls.
