The Depot by JWC @ Puchong – Good Stuff

Decided to try out this new cafe in Puchong today. A successful cafe originally from Johor Bharu, JWC or Just Want Coffee decided to attempt the replication of their success by opening shop at this side of the country.

JWC is located within an industrial area – Taman Perindustrian Pusat Bandar Puchong. The area where the cafe is located specifically is very new. It is basically made up of a bunch of new, nice looking low density buildings that has very few occupants, at the moment.

The cafe occupies two floors. The first floor is pretty spacious, with tables and chairs arrangements focused at the corners. The second floor however was tables and chairs all the way, fully occupying the available space. As you guys can probably see, the Depot is vibrant and brightly lit, with a main color scheme of turquoise. Their theme was mainly industrial.

At first glance, the dish looked exactly as it does in the first image – a plate that looked like there was an overflow of the Japanese curry + potatoes, with a side of crispy chicken fillet and a rather protruding scrambled egg. Once you dig into the rather protruding scrambled egg, you are hit with a ‘AHA” moment because gues what – the rice is hidden below the egg yawwww. This was a delicious dish. It tasted exactly as Japanese curry should be. I do not know much about this specific kind of curry but based on what I’ve tasted so far, I can deduce that it is suppose to be thick and flavorful. This fits right in. Every spoon was glorious. Imagine a spoon full of rice + rich, yummy Japanese curry + crispy, boneless chicken + egg. Yum! The end.

Seafood Aglio Olio, 21.90 ringgit

If you like dry noodles, like I do – this would be an awesome choice. Besides Pesto pastas, which I like being all gooey and filled with pesto, I usually prefer them rather dry. Why? I just find them more flavorful. I always thought that the dryer they are, the more flavors they are able to retain – just my observation, lol. This was really good. Flavorful it was, with plenty of seafood (squids and prawns). Wish I can tell you guys more  in regards to the flavors and its taste but I was just too busy gobbling it all up that all I can say is that it tasted really good.  Sorry – not.

Moroccon Rose Latte, 10.90 ringgit

I do not usually order coffee, not really a fan. My go-to cafe drink is usually hot chocolate. However, since they had a range of coffee available, I thought – why not, right? It sure does look preety, ey? It comes recommended. Tasted quite wonderful. The mix of espresso and milk was perfect, not too strong and not too mild. Just the right amount to satisfy non coffee drinkers like myself. The rose sprinkle on the top, I think it is coated with sugar? sweetener? because I drink a mouthful of the latte with a good dose of those sprinkled rose, it was generally sweeter than it was without.  I liked it.

Would I head here again?

This would be one of those cafes that I would go to if I am in the area. It took quite the journey to head to the cafe, from where I was located. Good food, yes. Will keep Depot in mind whenever I head to Puchong.
