OKRA Nyonya @ Sunway Geo – Delicious Peranakan Food (Permanently CLOSED)

If you guys do not know where Sunway Geo is, well – it is located directly in front/opposite Sunway Medical Centre. As in you come out of the medical centre, take the bridge across the road and you’d be in front of Sunway Geo. Sunway Geo is comprised of several blocks of building – residences perhaps? on the top with a commercial area on the bottom and within this commercial area is where OKRA is.

OKRA is located in Block B, 2nd Floor. There is a basement carpark  available, at an hourly rate of 1 ringgit. When you enter the basement, you would notice arrows going all directions, Block A,B,C,D,E and etc. Just keep an eye out for Block B because that is the best place to park if you want a direct link to the area where OKRA is.  For now, most of the shop lots are vacant, with a few lots occupied. Despite the low occupancy, loads of people pay visit. I guess with the medical enter located opposite and Monash University located just down the road, the number of people visiting is only bound to increase.

They did not go all out on the decor, it was pretty simple with the ‘windows’ on the wall being sort of the only giveaway to the Peranakan lifestyle. Not that I am complaining though, I like it simple at times and the place was cozy.

Mee Siam, 12.80 ringgit

This was delicious! Loved it. I am sure you guys know how/what Mee Siam taste like, so I am not going to go into details but man, this was good stuff. Of late, the few times I’ve given Mee Siam a try, it usually comes in a soggy mess, which I dislike. I like them noodles dry and that was what I got here. Dry and packed with flavors, yum! Basically this dish consist of fried mee hoon + sambal + squid + fishcakes + tofu + beansprouts + omellette. Yummy! I’d totally order this again, totally.

Onion Omelette, 10 ringgit

The omelette was yummy. both crispy and gooey, without being overly oily and crunchyness from the onions – this made a dish for a starter and also as a side to the main dishes.

Nasi Ikan Cencaru, 16 ringgit

This was yummy. I would not have ordered this dish on a usual day because on a usual day – I am more prone to ordering a dish with chicken on the side but I decided to give the fish a go today. What you’d get from this dish is cencaru sambal + cabbage + rice. On the menu it says that this dish come with a soup on the side but I did not get anything, I only realized the absence of the soup upon paying, which was too late. It is soup anyways, I do not care much for them. I liked the fish. It was sort of kechup fried fish topped with yummy sambal.  I do not regret one bit for deciding to give the fish a go. Loved it.

Would I head here again?
