I headed to this 2 month old restaurant/cafe yesterday and I had a pretty good experience there. It is one of those eatery that is well spaced out, interior colored in a way to promote a calming effect. An overall nice feel. It provided me a perfect refuge from the blazing sun and wind, with good music playing in the background, good company, yummy food and a pleasant ambiance, my worries were temporarily forgotten, lol.
The dishes the offer are the classic cafe munchies like burgers, pork chop, spaghetti, gumbo and etc. It is mostly of the Western variety and infused inspirations from UK and US.
Tiramisu Cake, 13 ringgit
I was starving by the time I reached Wings N Boar, so naturally while waiting for my main dish to arrive, I ordered my self a plate of rich, creamy Tiramisu. Some Tiramisu has a tinge of red wine or rum in it, which I like if I am not planning to eat a burger right after, it tends to leave an aftertaste that would not be desirable. Here, no alcohol was in it – yay! It tasted as a Tiramisu cake should be. It was nutty and caramelized on the top, and rich, creamy and decadent on the bottom. Delicious.
Big Boy Chicken Burger, 26 ringgit
My first thought was “Woaaaaa, look at the size of that chicken.” It certainly was the star of this dish. The Big Boy Chicken Burger comes with a whole chicken leg (boneless) + Brioche burger buns + Coleslaw + Lettuce + Mayo, with Sweet Potato fries on the side. The coleslaw in the burger was something new to me. I’ve had greens, caramelized onions, cheese, egg and other usual fillings but coleslaw – never. It tasted delicious. The coleslaw provided the burger a gravy/sauce effect, which only made the dish better. The fried chicken leg was thick, tender, meaty and crunchy. The sweet potato fries was tasty, I just wish they could tone down the salt? cause rather than allowing the sweetness to shine, the salt kind of muted it, which made it taste like the usual fries. Other than that – I enjoyed this dish very much.
Would I head here again?
I would love to but most probably not. It is located pretty far away from where I am. Usually when it comes to Cheras, I usually head as far as Taman Connaught. This cafe though, is located about 20-30 mins beyond that, well into Balakong almost. Who knows, maybe one of those day where I feel like a long drive, away from the city, with plenty of time to spare, then perhaps I will head back to Wings N Boar.
Address: No. 5-G, Jalan Tengah, Cheras Selatan, Cheras.
Opening hours: Wednesdays to Mondays, 11.30 am – 10 pm. Tuesdays Closed.
Signing out now, Ciao.
