I had some things to do at Ara Damansara today – renewing my road tax being one of them… anyways, since I was within the area, why not head to Citta Mall to see what’s new there, right? Which was exactly what I did. Since I haven’t been here for ages, I’ve only just realize that Salad Bar has close shop and naturally, a few new eateries popping up – one of them being Curries N Claws.
This new eatery has been operating for 2 month and serves banana leaf rice. I do not think I’ve come across many eateries that serves banana leaf rice in a mall. Have you? Yea, Citta Mall is more a street mall than a conventional mall but still – it is a mall nonetheless. Of course, this just got me more hyped up to give this eatery a try.
The restaurant interior is modern and chic. The mix of colors and wall art sure does wonders is making the whole atmosphere cheerful and pleasant.
The dishes they serve are not limited to Indian rice and its variety, they also offer rotis – roti canai, murtabak, tosai among others & nasi lemak – Nasi Lemak Ayam, Sambal Sotong, Udang & fried rice, curry mee and etc.
Banana Leaf Set, 10.90 ringgit + Sambal Sotong, 5.90 ringgit + Chicken Varuval, 7.90 ringgit + Ommelette, 3.50 ringgit
So, for the Banana Leaf Set, you would get 3 vegetables – 1 green, 1 starch and 1 fried + Rasam + Pickles + Fried Chillies + Rice and Curry of your choice. This is what the set is made up of. It basically is a vegetarian set, you can stop here if you fancy going meatless today or order yourself some meat like I did, on the side.
I loveeee their sotong sambal, loveeeeeee it! It was spicy and sweet. Yum! I usually tend to leave behind whatever sambal that is left once I have eaten all the squid but this was one of those rare occasions where I proceeded to lick the whole bowl clean even though the squids were long gone, lol. No joke. It was delicious. My only complaint would be that rather than the sotong sambal being overwhelming with sotong, it was instead overwhelm by onions. If they could reduce the onions and instead add on more squids – that would be awesome. After all – the folks who usually order squids are mostlyfolks who are more than willing to pay a little extra $$$.
The chicken varuval was tasty but I had a doubt – since chicken varuval is almost always dry and the ones here was a little more wetter – perhaps it was not a varuval? Hmmmmm? There was like a 5 second pause where I had every intention to enquire about the varuval however, I decided against it because I was not willing to wait. No harm though, the dish was tasty and the experience as a whole was awesome.
Would I head here again?
I would if I am in the area. I rarely visit Citta Mall, so this would be a once in a blue moon affair.
