Okay, so This cafe has been around since 2014 and many of you guys most probably already been here but today was one of those days whereby I did not feel like heading to a specific cafe solely for writing a review. I just wanted a nice, cozy cafe that serves decent food. I wanted to relax and enjoy a good meal and since I was within the area – Caffeinated Cabin was a good fit.
** The cafe is next to a school – La Salle Secondary School PJ and is located in one of those residential houses you’d see by the road when you drive through Jalan Gasing. It shares a space with a hair salon, Chezz Technique – as in half is a salon and the other half is a cafe. It can be quite intimidating when looking for PARKING along the busy road, worry not though – just turn into the cafe/ salon and drive to the back, there are a couple of vacant spots.
As soon as you step foot into this cafe, it sort of gives you an ‘alternate universe’ feel. Why do I say so? Well, the cafe is located along Jalan Gasing and when I say along – i mean its right beside the road and a busy one at that. However, as soon as you enter this cafe, the sound of the city is silenced, something that takes you by surprise.
The cafe exudes a feel of nature and weird enough – a tunnel. When you are inside a tunnel – the outside fades away and all you see, hear is inside the tunnel? Yup, that is exactly how I felt. Totally unexpected.
Prawn vs Cereal Pasta, 23.90 ringgit
The pasta was simple yet delicious. It basically consisted of stir fried prawns, olive oil spaghetti and cereal. The small prawns were a bit of a let down because this is the kind of dish that could really do with some large prawns. It kindda just goes without saying. As for the cereal, I wish they could add a lil more to the dish as oppose to it just being a ‘garnish’. The little bit that I did have though worked really well with the pasta and prawns, it certainly complemented the dish well. I like this dish.
Japanese Curry Pulled Chicken Bagel, 14.90 ringgit
This was very yummy. Now this dish is certainly worth returning for. First of all, the bagel was awesome, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside and the Japanese Curry Pulled Chicken – Yummmmm. Who would have thought that bagel goes well with curry. The curry soaked chicken gave the bagel a gooey, warm texture. You’d get the crunch from the outer layer, and then soft, wet curry filled inner layer with chewy flavorful chicken. The mix of textures and flavors was awesome. Loved it.
Would I head here again?
I would love to. The secluded manner this cafe is located provides me a temporary escape from the busy life. Food was not bad at all, so why not?
