Acha Curry House @ Bukit Gasing – Yummy

Besides Kanna Curry House, Acha is the other famous one. You’d usually hear people ranting about either one when talking about Indian/Banana leaf rice. I’ve been here several times, 4 years ago and have not been back here since. So, naturally – I am excited πŸ™‚

Acha Curry House is about 5-8 minutes away from Lotus Restaurant, Jalan Gasing. If you guys know where the shop lots in the image above is, then you would have no problem locating Acha, as it occupies the corner lot of those row of shops. If you are not familiar with the area, oh well – there is always Waze.Β

Anyways, before I get into the good part, just to let u guys know – the family that runs the restaurant – they do not smile. The Indonesian workers do, but not the Indian guy who takes your order and the Indian lady who sits at the counter. Just thought of letting you know. Not that it matters though, once the food arrives, their rather unfriendly faces are long forgotten, lol.

Okay, now on to the good part. I have not been to many Indian restaurant whereby they allow you to put the four selection of vegetables on your own, as much as you want. Usually, the server/waiter himself puts it for you onto the banana leaf and if you ask for an addition scoop, they tend to take another scoop which looks full but by the time it reaches your leaf – half of the content has fallen back into the container/bowl it came from. get what I mean? That isnt the case here though – you get to put as much as you want.

So yea, as you can see from the image above, they sort of just dump everything onto your table, the vegetables and the variety of curries.Β  You just take however much you fancy.Β

Man, the fried tenggiri fish is da bomb. Do give it a try if you haven’t already. The price of the fish varies according to the size of the fish, so if you want a bigger piece of fish, do head on over to the frying pan and choose the fish you’d want them to fry for you. This seriously is delicious. If I was not watching my calories, I would order another one.Β  The chicken varuval was equally as yummy. Usually, you would get quite a lot of bones accompanying the meat, as in the bits and pieces that accompanies the dish on a plate, sometimes you would get meat and some times bones. The bones kindda makes up a whole piece, with no meat on it. Here though, every piece has meat on it. Yay!Β

Would I head here again?

Yes, I would. Food was delicious.
