If you guys have not been to Farmers Street – do note that they do not ONLY offer desserts. They offer a range of wholesome meals – Nasi Lemak, Chicken Chop, Curry Mee, Chicken, Assam Pedas Fish and many more but for this review, we are only covering the desserts.

Here goes …..

I had to drop by Jaya Shopping Centre today to get some items from Mr. DIY. I’ve visited the mall a dozen times however, my visits are usually limited to the 5th floor – TGV Cinema and the LOver Ground Floor for food and groceries. I’ve never really took a tour – the kind where you walk through every floor to see what’s around? Yea, never did that. Since, I had a couple of hours to spare, my friend and I decided to catch up on that delayed tour, lol.

We didnt plan on eating because we had a filling lunch elsewhere, prior to our visit to Jaya Mall but as we were cruising through the 3rd floor – we stumbled upon Farmers Street. Since they had their menu up at the entrance – being the busy bodies that we were, we decided to check it out. We saw their dessert menu and the rest is history, lol. Our stomach, which were full just 5 minutes before was mysteriously cleared up with just enough space for dessert, lol.

They offer a range of desserts at affordable prices. Almost all their desserts are within a price range of 5 – 10 ringgit. Considering the generous portion their desserts come in, I must say – it is pretty cheap.

Red Bean Soup & Glutinous Balls, 7 ringgit + Peanut Paste, 5 ringgit

I sure was pleasantly surprise when it came to the Peanut Paste. It cost us 5 ringgit and we were not expecting much but they sure did wow-ed us. The consistency of the paste – thick and creamy. It was sooo tempting, just by looking at it. I kindda thought that maybe they took some of those peanut butters readily available at any grocery shops, melt it and served it to us. That was how creamy and thick it looked like – it was one of those ‘too good to be true’ scenarios. Upon tasting it though – ooooo man, It certain aint one of those out of a jar and into the pan kindda thing like I initially though. No heated up processed peanut butter and etc. Why not? Because Every mouthful you take, the taste of roasted peanuts were evident, certainly not the kind of taste derived from grocery stores peanut butter. If you a peanut fan, do give this paste a try. It certainly will fulfill your craving.

I used to regularly buy red bean soup from the old uncle, outside TMC Bangsar. He has been there for years and then all of a sudden, he just stopped operating. I do hope it is not because he has expired? Bless his soul. Anyways, even since then, I guess I havent come across that many eateries that offer red bean soup here in KL. So, when I saw it being served here, I decided to give it a go.

It was thick and filled with plenty of red beans. It had just the right amount of sweetness and there was 2 large glutinous balls filled with black sesame. I dislike glutinous balls that has very little filling but loads of flour – what exactly is the point of stating that there is a filling when it isnt even going to be filled to half of its capacity, right? Well, I am happy to say that it isnt the case here. here, you would literally get a generous portion of black sesame filling. It was soft, buttery and worked well with the glutenous balls and red bean soup. Loved it.
