We decided to pay a visit to Grain, a newly opened eatery (1 week old) in Damansara Perdana today. As usual, parking was a pain. We decided to do the whole ‘responsible driver’ act and went around the block 3 times but there was no vacant spot available. So, in the end – we just double parked in front of this eatery. lol.ย
The staff are friendly and welcoming. They are more than willing to help you out if you are lost as to what to order. They offer suggestions and recommendations and etc. The eatery itself is pretty vibrant. Usually it takes time for the crowd to start flocking in with it being new and all but it is quite apparent that it is not the case here. At the point of our visit, there was a group having a work related discussion and a few other who were simple having their lunch. Mostly frequented by the working crowd from around the area, this eatery offers them a place to unwind and relax for a bit before they go about they day back at work again.ย
Chilli Bean Paste Chicken, 15.50 ringgit + Garlic Rice, 3 ringgit
If you are into the Korean fried chicken (KFC) frenzy and loveeee them KFC with chili, then you would certainly like this dish. It basically consist ofย chicken thigh meat, spring onions, onions, red capsicum, chilli bean paste. The dish does not come with rice. I however decided to get myself some rice on the side because – well, I simply cannot eat those chicken without rice ๐ย
If you like your food dry, as in without much gravy to provide a little wetness to the rice and chicken mix, then do start munching on from the side. However, if you like some sauce and wetness, then best go in through the middle of that chicken dish. Most of the sauce decided to contain itself in the middle. The chicken was tender and juicy. I really liked the chili paste sauce, it has a lil sweetness and plenty more spice and heat to it.ย The rice was, rice without much garlic flavor? My initial though on garlic rice was that it would be similar to garlic fried rice whereby the taste of garlic was evident from start to finish. That was not the case here. Here, lets just say it was mild. The rice + chicken combo was yummy. I enjoyed it.
White Fish Egg Noodle, 19.30 ringgit
I did not know what to expect when I ordered this dish. I literally thought there would be fish eggs, lol. Never had it served with noodles before, so why not, right?ย Well, the description suggest that this dish includes fish of the day, egg noodles, kailan, basil, chillies in duck broth. I dont know about egg noodles though but to me, those egg noddles resembles wan tan noodle ๐ the thinner version, yea. The duck broth, it was clear and peppery. Flavorful indeed. Yet to figure out what the fish of the day was, lol but it totally complimented the noodles, broth and the awesome flavors.ย
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake, 15 ringgit
Rice, decadent, just the right amount of sweetness – a perfect ending to my visit to Grain. Yum!ย
Would I head here again?
