Bangsar South Chee Cheong Fun Halal Kopitiam Nasi Lemak

Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock @ Bangsar South – A good place for simple, local morning breakfast.

******* Between this branch and the branch in Petaling Street –  Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock @ Petaling Street-My Tummy says it is Satisfied (smirks), I prefer the latter. For a more wholesome experience – better food quality with an ol’ school ambiance .. I’d suggest heading to Petaling Street. The Bangsar South branch is okay. It is conveniently located and is a nice place to chill, the ‘okay’ food can be overlooked lah.

I went to Family Mart at The Sphere the day before, just to get my favorite soft serve on  the go. Have you guys tried it? For just 2.90 ringgit, it sure is worth it. Whenever I need that instant relief for my sweet tooth, I simply head to Family Mart and get my hands on them soft serves. Yumm!

Anyways, I decided to walk around, see what is new and stuff and that is when I discovered Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock, tucked in a corner. I got excited for a bit, lol, upon finding out that they open at 8 am. This could totally be another place to have those early morning meetings. Yay! I was getting kindda tired having to head to Botanica Deli most of the time because most of the other eateries here open later.

So yea, fast forward today morning, I headed to this eatery for my 8.30 meeting.

Sorry for the limited photos. I was in a meeting/discussion and I could not snap away as much as I would like. I will certainly be back here, so yea, will provide more pictures then. Trust me though, the interior and the exterior was awesome. If you want the ‘Malaysian’ feel’, then here – you would get the ‘Malaysian’ feel.’

Although a lil different, It had the usual ol school feel that accompanies most Ali, Muthu & Ah Hocks. I liked it. There was local music playing – Elite’s Trauma, Ella’s Standing in the Eye of the World, Search’s Isabella – can you believe Isabella is almost 30 years old? Man, time sure did fly 🙂 I liked it very much. I do not hear these classics played much these days on local radio. The eatery was airy – not from air conditioner but from fan running full blast. Between the old school feel, the classic music, the fan, the sunlight and the airy feel – my morning meeting was going very well. A nice place to chill with a wholesome Malaysian feel.

I think the Menu is the same across all their branches 🙂

Breakfast Set – Nasi Lemak Biasa & Teh + Chee Cheong Fun & Kopi

Chee Cheong Fun Set

As the heading says ‘simple, local morning breakfast’ – if that is what you want, then that is what you would get. If you are a lil tight on cash, then the Breakfast Set would be an awesome deal. You would get what you ordered but do not expect exceptional flavors. For instance, I ordered the Nasi Lemak Biasa  set meal – I got what I ordered, it certainly did fill my stomach to keep me going throughout the day. Taste wise however, it was okayla, not bad. Perhaps if you fancy something more yummy and not ‘biasa’, then you would be better off ordering items from their normal menu and not the Breakfast Set. Feel me? I’ve tried their Nasi Lemak Ayam from their normal Menu and I loved it. It was delicious. So yea. Same thing with the Chee Cheong Fun, it was okayla. My friend wanted that dish and that was what he got, similarly, I wanted Nasi Lemak and that was what I got.

That being said, with the good ambiance, the good mood and feel,  the ‘okay’ food would not deter me from returning. I certainly will come back. It is an awesome place to have breakfast meeting if you are looking for a not too formal setting. My personal preference would be to skip the Breakfast Set the next time and instead order from their normal menu. The items after all just cost a few bucks extra.

Would I head here again?

Of  course. It makes for a good place to ‘lepak’ and I look forward to giving their normal Menu a try.
