For someone who has lived in Brickfields at a certain point in her life – this sure did strike me as weirdly funny. Alila is located in Brickfields but its marketed as Bangsar ? However, upon walking in and checking ’em out – it does have that fancy element to it, so I kindda understand where they were coming from. Still tickles me though at times. Moving on ….
** Do excuse the limited pictures taken in regards to the eatery interior. I was in a business meeting – the serious kind, I tried the best I could from where I was seating and honestly, the other shots were rubbish. Will update during my next visit. Sorrryyyyy.
Anyways, true to the ‘Botanica + Co’ theme – there was the ‘green’ effect here. I felt the same when I ate at their Bangsar South branch , the same here too – greens everywhere. Liked that very much. Here, they had the whole high ceiling effect going on and the decor oozes a feel of ‘higher end’? I would say that this branch is fancier than the one in Bangsar South and falls somewhere between casual and fine dining – leaning more towards the latter.
The Bo + Co Club Sandwich, 28 ringgit + Prawn & Kale Pesto Pasta, 39 ringgit

If you do not mind the price – then do give this branch a try because food sure was good and on top of that, it comes in a generous portion, you literally get what you paid for and even more. The Pesto Pasta was utterly delicious. I was half in love with it just by looking at it. There were 2 huge prawns – the large kind that you’d be able to cut into 5,6 small pieces each. Yup, those giant prawns. The pasta texture was thick with kale pesto dressing , yet oily from the olive oil perhaps? A good combination. There was almond bits for garnish, plenty of tomatoes, mushrooms and surprisingly couliflower. I havent come across many pastas served with couliflower but I liked, it was a good addition, added some crunch to an otherwise ‘soft and slimy’ dish. This cost me almost 40 ringgit but it was real good, so I guess it was worth it.
The Club Sandwich – if I am not mistaken, its pretty similar to the one served in their Bangsar South branch. The sandwiches were large and filled generously. It starts with toasted sourdough bread with avocado spread + turkey bacon + grilled chicken + eggs + cheddar cheese. Real nice. If you want something with different textures and flavors – you could give this a try if you fancy yourself a sandwich. Salty, sweet, cheesy, chewy – its all in here. Yum! The chips, ooooo man – to die for. Thinly cut chips that is cooked to perfection. Every bite was crunchy and tasty.
Would I head here again?
Perhaps not as often as I would like because it is on the ‘pricey’ end but yea, on a day where I do not mind spending some $$$ in return for good food – will certainly head back here.
