I was in the area two nights back and decided to drop by Uptown to see if there was anything I fancy having for dinner here. As I was driving around the square, I came across Ipoh Cravings – which piqued my interest. Apparently, they have been around for 7,8 month? I know for a fact that I was here last month and the month before but I somehow missed the existence of this cafe. Perhaps this is because I almost never enter Uptown to ‘jalan jalan’, there is always a purpose – to buy some thing at a specific shop and leave immediately, so, it is easy to miss this or any other eatery when I was not looking around in the first place but I am glad this time, I did and found Ipoh Cravings. Better late than never.
I like the feel of this cafe. It’s a kopitiam inspired slightly modern-ish eatery. They had the white + green theme going on – right from the signboard outside and all through the interior inside. Customer service was great, they were all friendly and welcoming and food arrived real fast.Β
** Do keep in mind that if you are heading here for dinner, like I did – some of the items on the Menu would be sold out. I wanted to give their Hainanese Chicken Rice (Breast) a try – sold out. Homemade Tau Foo Fah – sold out, Black Glutinous Rice with Santan – sold out. I did check with them, whether the items were really sold out or if it is actually a case of them not serving it for the day and they assured me that it was truly sold out. So, I guess if these items tickles your fancy, perhaps make you way here earlier in the day as oppose to nearing closing time.
Curry Noodle, 8.90 ringgit + Signature Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun (Dry), 8.90 ringgit

Their Curry Mee was nice, yummy. i love thick ‘curry’ and the one here was pretty good. It was not overloaded with santan and the flavoring of the curry shined. There was some heat, some spice – the right amount to allow you a taste of those much welcomed flavors but not overwhelming in a way that makes you sweat – get what I mean? Not that I do not enjoy a good sweat but not at nightlah. There was those soggy tauhu that I liked, about 4 of them, yay! Just having them tauhu in your mouth and as soon as you bite down on them and the soup just burst out of them – yummmmm! The chicken was the shredded version – steamed chicken sreadded into smaller pieces? Yup those ones, they were soft, juicy and meaty, a good addition.Β
The Hor Fun was apparently one of their popular dishes. I am one of those weirdos who do not like Hor Fun and I still dont. So, I cannot comment much on this dish but my friend liked it. For a simple noodle dish, nothing fancy, just something simple for the night – the Hor Fun was pretty good. He did add however that perhaps it would have tasted even better if we ordered the ‘soupy’ version as opposed to the ‘dry’ version.Β Β
Would I head here again?
Yesss, I would. I amΒ looking forward to giving their Chicken Rice a try π
