This was an accidental discovery. Yesterday, I sent my car for service down the road. I had to wait around for an hour or two till they were done and so I decided to walk down the row of shops to find myself a place to comfortably sit and get some work done while sipping on a cuppa tea. Initially just intended on settling in Ho LI CHow – Ho Li Chow @ Damansara Kim – A pleasant kopitiam. but just few doors away from this eatery was IDC, which I did not know existed.
Yup, this would do it. A cafe that is both comfortable and relaxing with good Wifi – yup, totally a place I can sit down and get some work done. IDC offers the usual drinks – variety of coffee, tea, soda, ice cream, affogato and desserts – Waffles, Banana Split, Burrito . I was walking around and guess what I saw – Kapiti Ice Cream yawww, all the way from New Zealand! I’ve seen this particular brand on display in Heros, Jaya Grocer and etc., always wanted to buy it but the ‘cheapskate’ in me always resisted – a small tub of this ice cream is around 20 ringgit – say what???? Although, the reality is that if you want good, creamy, milky ice cream , you do need to fork out some extra cash but yea, parting away from that much cash in one go is very difficult lah!
I sure am glad I found this cafe. The rush hour traffic – 5 – 7 pm around the PJ area is tiring, I usually end up waiting it out at Tropicana City Mall and since I’ve been doing so for ages, it gets boring. So, having found this eatery was great. Now, I can drop by IDC, have a drink and/or a dessert, get some work done in comfort and head home in a bliss.
Anyways, back to this… I sure was a happy kid to see Kapiti here yawww. A single scoop cost me 8 ringgit and I went for it 🙂 Got my self a scoop of the Affogato flavor and Hokey Pokey.
Ice Latte, 12 ringgit + a scoop of Affogato, 8 ringgit + a scoop of Hokey Pokey, 8 ringgit
The scoops of ice cream were delicious. I wanted something Vanilla-ish, so both Hokey Pokey and Affogato were perfect for me. To me, Affogato was a blend of vanilla and caramel, Hokey Pokey was mostly vanilla with plenty of bits of crunchy honeycomb. Both were great – creamy, milky and flavorful and I liked both the flavors with a lil more liking for Hokey Pokey. Loved the honeycomb addition, which provided a little crunchyness to an otherwise smooth texturing.
The Ice Latte was awesome here. It was thick, milky and ‘kaw’ and by ‘kaw’ I mean – strong. It hits you on all the right spots. Loved it.
Would I head back here?
Yes, I certainly will. Not only that IDC is comfortable, the drinks and ice cream were fabulous and affordably priced. Totally seeing myself returning here frequently, especially to wait out the after work traffic 🙂
