Long story short – we had a work related meeting in KL City Centre, at Fraser Place, which is opposite Life Centre. On our way out – we saw this 2 month old eatery, Warung Prima. It was pretty full/packed for lunch and we figured, it must be nice, why not go give it a try?ย ย
…ย and so, here we were.
It is kindda small. When it gets crowded, you sort of need to navigate your way through tight spaces to reach your destination, your table and seat. Not a bad thing though, it is part of its charm. It is after all a ‘warung’. There is about 3 ladies handling everything – manning the counter, taking orders, cooking, serving and through it all, they were smiling and chatty. Do expect a boisterous environment when it is full. Mostly frequented by office folks, do look forward to hearing about their respective jobs, family, friend and of course – office gossip, people bitching about their co workers, lol. It sure was entertaining.
Salted Egg with Kunyit Sotong, 13 ringgit +Ikan Kembung Goreng Kunyit Combo, 11 ringgit
It is all about the ‘Kunyit’ here… Ayam kunyit, Sotong Kunyit, Ikan Kunyit, Nasi Lemak Kunyit …
Both dishes came with white rice + egg + long beans. The fish combo set came with a Kembung fish and drink, we opted for Teh O’ Limau, all for just 11 ringgit. The fish was marinated in turmeric, which upon being fried, gave us that spiced, flavorful taste. I also liked how the outer layer of the fish came with crunchy bits that retained the turmeric flavor, having it with the rice was awesome. There were 2 gravies provided – a chili paste and a sweet ketchup sauce. Mixing both together and eating it with the rice was yummy, it provided a pleasant ‘hot’, sweet taste. It certainly was tasty.
However, between the fish and sotong dish – I fancied the ‘sotong’ dish more. The squids were finger licking good. Just like the fish, the it was marinated in turmeric as well and boy was it flavorful. Just look at them ‘sotongs’ , yummmm! It was all crunchy on the outside and all soft and chewy on the inside. Now, this dish, I’d certainly give it another go.ย It certainly provided me with a burst of flavors. Loved it.
Would I head back here?
I certainly would. I look forward to giving theirย “Telur Masin Kunyit Ayam” and “Nasi Lemak Kunyit” a try during my next visit.
