We were at Bandar Utama, specifically at The Curve and eventually, we got hungry. Since Desa Park City is only about 15 minutes away from here, we figured why not head there for lunch. Plaza Arkadia specifically has seen a rise in number of eateries opening shop. Last I’ve been here was about a year, a year and a half ago? and back then, there weren’t many restaurants/cafes, most probably because the whole area itself was new?
This time around though – there were a number of eateries to choose from – Lucky Peaches, The Hermitage, Yu Noodle Cuisine and Raam Ravan, among others. We walked around, checked out the cuisines available and decided on some Indian today.
RaamRavan is located in Block H (Hutton). To park here is pretty simple, you enter their basement carpark and in there, there are plenty of guidance and references, just take note of the specific block you are heading to and look out for directions. Once you are on the Ground floor, as you walk around, you’d immediately see this eatery.
This eatery operates both as a restaurant and a bar. While we were having lunch, there were already several tables starting to indulge in some beer. Beer and biryani… hmmm, I dont know if I’d enjoy that combination though, lol.
They had 80’s ballads playing in the background which I enjoyed. Haven’t heard some of them in a while. The place was well lit, bright and cheery from the natural lighting. The theme was obviously varying shades of brown – not something I’d come across everyday, pleasant nonetheless. Customer service was good, we were attended to immediately as we sat.
Chicken Briyani, 23 ringgit + Mutton Thali Set, 18.90 ringgit

Both dishes were delicious. I enjoyed the Thali Set. The main reason one decides to give a Thali meal a go is to get a taste, a little bit of everything in one plate, which was what I got here. As you’d notice, the dish came with 6 sides – mutton varuval, caramelized onions, cucumber in yogurt, potatoes, pumpkin + coconut, rasam. I especially loved the caramelized onion and pumpkin + coconut puree? Okay, perhaps it isnt puree? The consistency was more thicker and chunkier but it certainly tasted awesome. Both the pumpkin and caramelized onions provided a sweetish flavor that belnded perfectly with the gravy and flavors from the other sides. The varuval came with 2 medium sized mutton pieces. It was tender and rather easy to break apart. I like ‘easy to break apart’ mutton bits because then my mouth would not have to go through a rather vigorous routine in its attempts to break those bits apart – know what I mean? I’d certainly give this dish a go again, it was yummy!
The Chicken Briyani came with a side of papadums + thairu/ yogurt. The yogurt was da bomb. It was thick in consistency and with some indian spices sprinkled all over it – the flavors were tasty. I’d certainly be a happy kid if I was given a taste of it daily 🙂 The briyani was good. The flavors were plenty. There were several medium sized chicken pieces in there, all hot and soften up in the claypot. If you fancy something wholesome, filling with plenty of flavor – then do give this a go.
Would I head here again?
I might 🙂 but perhaps not anytime soon. As Desa Park City is located quite a distance a way from where we are based, I most probably would not drive all the way there to have Indian food because there are plenty available here. However, if during one of my rare visits there, I fancy something Indian, will certainly head to RaamRavan again.
