Bubble Bee Cafe @ Petaling Street – A pleasant discovery

Who knew that just down the road from Merchant Lane and Chocha Foodstore, there is another cafe, Bubble Bee. When I say ‘just down the road’ , I mean it, it literally is just a minute or two away from Merchant Lane. Of course, this cafe does not have a diverse variety of food offerings as their counterpart but if you would like to try out a new eatery, one that offers a selection of waffles in addition to paninis and wraps – do give Bubble Bee a go.

The cafe was nice. It oozes a chilled out, laid back vibe. I could totally see myselfΒ  immersing in work here, on my own, forgetting about everything else, comfortably.Β  It faces a busy road, one would think that it would be noisy and a distraction but no – it was quiet and comfortable. Ooo and notice that quiet, secluded garden-ish area in the image above? If you fancy some privacy with plenty of sunlight that gives you the impression of a garden, they have that option readily available for you, unless occupied, of course. Customer service was good. They were all friendly and helpful, more than willing to assist you in any way.Β

The main attraction here is their egg waffles. I tried resisting giving them a try, at first but failed miserably. As soon as someone orders it and they start making it, the smell of them waffles literally circles and envelopes the cafe – it was too much of a temptation to resist. So, I succumbed, lol.

Simply Nuts, 15 ringgit

I opted for this particular option because I simply likedΒ  the description – Almonds, Walnuts, Pecans, Dried Cranberries, Caramel Sauce, Vanilla Gelato. Imagine all the crunchiness from the nuts variety in the midst of the sweetness, yummmm! It certainly was that, yummy. A refreshing dish on a rather hot day. As you’d notice, plenty of nuts scattered on the top to provide crunchiness. The ice cream + caramel sauce, it was surrounded by the warm waffle, the heat from it had sort of melted some of the ice cream. This resulted in the inner part of the waffle a little soggy whereas the outer part was chewy with crunch. It was a good combination, the mix of textures and flavors was delightful. I enjoyed this dessert a whole lot.

Tuna Melt Panini, 14 ringgit

This was from their Lunch Set option, which is available from 12 pm to 2 pm.Β  Β The dishes available basically cost the same as it would ala carte, the difference here is that you’d get a glass ofΒ  orange juice with it.Β  I felt like a sandwich today, so panini would suit me best as oppose to wraps. Opted for Tuna Melt which was a pretty simple dish with a generous portion of Tuna stuffed into the panini, with tomatoes and melted cheese. It was yummy. I’d go for it again if I fancy something tuna-ish.

Would I head here again?

Yes, I certainly would.Β  I like Petaling Street – the liveliness, business, the history. The fact that this quiet, cozy cafe is located within the area, I’d certainly return. Food was good too and I dig the ambiance.
