After buying my weekly groceries at Atria, we decided to drive round the block, simply to see what is new, anything that catches our eye. As we were driving passed Family Mart, we noticed Big Big Wantan – it was doing exceptionally well, full house.
Needless to say, this piqued our interest and it was a done deal, we were going to have dinner at Big Big Wantan. We did not have the opportunity to sit inside as it was full, we ended up on the outside. It was comfortable, airy and mosquito-free, lol.
As its name suggest, the main attraction here is their wan tan noodle. That is not all though, they also offer a variety of rice – fried rice, sweet & sour pork rice and some light bites – dumplings, pork sausages, to name a few.
Yang Zhou Fried Rice, 8 ringgit
This was good. If you fancy yummy Chinese style fried rice with sweetish pork sausages – then, this is the one to go for 🙂 I enjoyed it. Do take note though, the portion here is huge! There was a lot of rice, lots and lots. I kid you not. It took 2 of us to finish the fried rice and it wasnt a case of me munching on stuff prior to dinner, nope. When I headed here, I fully intended to eat like a pig because I skipped lunch, was hungry but still, it was too much. It cost me 8 ringgit and it feeds two people, tasted yummy – totally value for money.
Dry Char Siew Wantan Mee (Large), 8 ringgit
The Wan Tan Mee here is different in the sense that it isnt swimming in ketchup. It was more oily than ketchup-py, a good blend of both, the flavors were enjoyable. It certainly is not one of the best I’ve come across but it was decent, I liked it. If you want something simple yet affordable, do consider this. The Char Siew though – wish it came in a bigger portion.
Would I head back here?
For the fried rice – perhaps and I look forward to trying out the other items available. So, yes, I’ll be back. Oh and did I mention that food is cheap here?? Yessss.
