After having to drop off a friend at the Subang Airport, we decided to have lunch somewhere within Ara Damansara. We drove around for a bit and somehow ended up in Dana 1 Commercial Centre. The familiarity of the area did not hit me until I saw Foremula. Aaaa, then it hits me. Yeeessssss, I paid them a visit sometime back, almost 2 years ago – https://thefoodbunny.com/2017/08/04/foremula-ara-damansara-i-love-it/ .
Although my experience at this cafe was good, I wasnt really in the mood for a repeat, preferring to go for something new, different perhaps? This is when I stumbled upon Forebidden, located a few doors away. Hmmm, a question – notice the ‘Fore’ in Foremula and Forebidden? Is the latter another venture by the same folks behind the former? In all the rush to fill my stomach, I forgot to inquire, hence, the question is left unanswered.

Fulamak, niceee weyyy. The interior was elegant but chic, an equilibrium between old school and new school. They had ‘back in the day’ hits playing bossa nova style, it sure does set the mood. Niceeeeee
** The Menu may not in the right sequence, in the midst of trying to get a better shot, it all got jumbled up. Some images may be blurry, using a new phone – still havent gotten used to some of the settings. Sorry.

Golden Fragrance, 25 ringgit + Xiandan Fan, 21 ringgit

Both the dishes were delicious, I cant really say which one I liked more. The noodles had an awesome taste to it, it was flavorful. The stir fried spaghetti with kam heong sauce – yummmmm! There were plenty of curry leaves to go around, I usually dislike them but the flavors it offered this dish, the combination was good. There were prawns, clams fish fillets. Just to give you an idea of how much I liked this dish – there was nothing left on the plate except for the purple cabbage they used for garnish π Burp!
Xiandan Fan is basically salted egg yolk fried rice. If you fancy a chinese style fried rice, then this is what you should go for. The taste of salted egg yolk is not overwhelming, just enough to make a difference. So, even if you are not a fan of anything related to salted egg yolk, you can still attempt this as it is not overpowering. There were generous amount of chicken pieces and prawns. The fried rice was topped with a poached egg, which was perhaps a tad more well done than necessary? I would have preferred the egg to be all gooey, when you cut into the middle, the yolk is all runny and dribbles down but that was not the case here. The egg was still soft and all but there was no runny egg, it has already solidify. Perhaps that was intended? Maybe so. It was not a big deal anyway, either way I still enjoyed the rice. Would I order it again? Yes, I would. It was delicious.
Would I head back here?
Perhaps not as often as I would like due to the distance but yes, I look forward to dropping by and giving their other dishes a go.
