desserts Pad Thai Thai Thai Green Curry

Thailicious – Boat Noodles & Thai Street Food @ Solaris – Simple yet authentic Thai food.

I’ve not heard of this Thai restaurant before, have you? Thailicious was suggested to me some time back but I always put off heading there because acquiring a parking spot during lunch time is a feat by itself, awefully difficult. However, since I had several hours to spare today, in between meetings, it seemed like a good time to pay this eatery a visit.

Prior to heading here, I was told that this eatery is worth a visit if I fancy something under the radar, no frills, simple yet authentic Thai food. This was exactly what I was in the mood for – no fancy decors and get-ups, it was all about the good food. It is located on the first floor, just a few doors away from 7 Eleven. Head on upstairs and you will be at Thailicious’s doorstep in no time. The interior is pretty simple and perhaps, seasoned, it is somewhat obvious that they have been around for a while. I liked their open kitchen concept, the kind that allows you visibility into the activities in the kitchen. It sure does help with the authenticity, knowing all the chefs are actually from Thailand, lol.

Set Lunch : Thai Green Curry + Dessert + Lemongrass Tea = 12.90 ringgit

Green Curry
Dessert

This lunch set was definitely a good deal. For 12.90 ringgit, you would get a main meal, dessert and an drink, the portion of the main meal doesn’t shrink simply because it is a lunch set, nope. You would get the exact portion as you would if you order individually.

The dish was yummy. There isn’t much I can say in specificity other than whether it tasted like Green Curry or not and it sure did. The gravy wasn’t too thick, laden with coconut milk or too watery, it was just right. There were generous amount of chicken, which together with the flavorful gravy, makes for an awesome combination with the rice.

For dessert, I had something similar to ‘bubur gandum’? I cannot provide a specific name because our waiter had all the names jumbled up in his head, he himself was not sure, lol. It was basically a sweet dish with coconut milk and soft, gooey wheat-ish pearls. It tasted good, with just the right amount of sweetness and fillings. A nice way to end the meal.

Pad Thai, 12.90 ringgit

Okay, if you like your noodles texture being slightly wet and sticky – like I do, then, you’d certainly loveeeee this dish. The dish overall was great, tasted awesome. A generous mix between noodles + eggs + prawns + chicken + squids. I enjoyed it, burp.

Mango Salad, 7.90

This mango salad is worth every penny. There was quite a bit of shredded mango, peanuts, a mix of chillies, spring onions, dried prawns and together with the ketchup-py gravy, it provided a burst of flavors – a lil sweet, a lil spicy. Lovely.

Would I head back here?

Yes, food was delicious. I’d definitely be back.
