Apparently, Moobaan has been around for 3 years now. I visit the area almost every other month and I am almost a 100% certain I’ve passed by it many times but somehow despite its bright turquoise exterior, I missed it. What on earth was I doing – I don’t know π
How did I finally notice its existence though? Well, it was one of those days whereby I knew which area I wanted to eat in but not specifically which restaurant/cafe. So, I got onto Google searched for whats good in the area – Taman Desa and one of the eateries that popped up was Moobaan. For a restaurant that has been around for 3 years and voted by more than 250 people – to have an average score of 4.1/5 , that would suggest that it is pretty good, right? and this was how I came to know of Moobaan.

It was a super hot day and we wanted to sit inside but it was all fully occupied when we arrived. So, we ended sitting outside which was pretty cool, they had the fan running on full blast – we didnt feel the heat at all despite the glaring sun.
Moobaan is a small, cheerful kopitiam-like eatery. It is colorful, they had the whole pastel theme going on – pastel blue, pink, yellow and turquoise, it was rather pleasing to the eye, exuded a calm and soothing effect. Customer service was awesome. Despite it being full house, they quickly came over and passed me my Menu and as soon as I was done writing down the food and drink I was interested in, they quickly came over to take my order to the kitchen.

Lunch Set : Khao Gaeng Kiaw Wan, 13.50 ringgit

I decided to go for one of the Set Lunch options. I was craving for some Thai green curry and it was available on the Set + soup + drink, all for 13.50 ringgit. Good deal, right? For the drink, I went for Lemon Tea. Here I was thinking I would be getting one of those sugar laden Lipton Lemon Ice Tea but nope, no such thing here. The tea was thick, with plenty of lemon juice in it – it was pleasantly sweet, slightly bitter. Certainly a refreshing change, I liked it.
When it comes to Thai Green Curry, I usually like the gravy thick and packed with flavors. The one served here sure did deliver. The gravy was flavorful, the distinctive taste of green curry was evident here. It came with a generous portion of chicken meat, brinjal and long beans. It was yummy, I enjoyed myself. Burp!
… and then, there was the dessert. Wowza!
Khao Niao Mamuang, 9 ringgit

Oooo man, this dessert sure did pile up on the calories but it was soooo worth it. Yuuummmmmm! Just imagine pouring thick, sweetened coconut milk onto the mango and soft, sticky steamed rice. Give it a minute for the coconut milk to soak onto and into it and then, when it is all wet and gooey – ooo man, the sweetened dense rice + the ripe, juicy mango – da bomb! It sure was a good way to end my visit here.
Would I head back here?
Ooo yes, yes I would. I am looking forward to trying the other items on their Menu.
