The only reason we ended up in this area, on a weekday, during lunch hour was because we had a meeting to attend or else you wouldn’t catch us in this part of Sunway at any other day than the weekends. It was jam, parking was almost non existent – every spot was taken, college kids walking everywhere … ughh! We spent almost 30 minutes rounding the area and in the end parked illegally by the roadside. Yess and those ‘saman’ guys were just around the corner, skulking like hawks and naturally, with my car in sight … I ‘kena saman’. Grrrr!
Since their Menu came with a selection of molten cakes and they are otherwise known as Softcore Molten Cake Co. , we knew we had to give at least one of it a go. We took a while to decide because everything looked good but eventually, we landed on …
Cheese Lava Molten Cake, 21 ringgit
This was da’ bomb. Yum yummmmmmm! and it sure was aesthetically pleasing. You can see that they put equal amount of time on the presentation as they did on the taste itself. I chose this particular option of molten cake because I cant say I’ve tasted the cheesy version, all I’ve had prior to this was the usual chocolate, chocolate and chocolate.
This dessert offered a burst of flavors – sweet, creamy, tangy, zesty and sourness. It had a mix of everything. The molten cake itself had cream cheese and parmesan, then there were crushed oreos, mixed berries, coulis, biscuit crumble and berry ice cream. Initially, I was a tad reluctant to give this dish a go. I thought that with the cheese, the distinct taste it exudes would be blatantly obvious but that was not the case here. Here, it had a good balance between the cheesiness and sweetness. The coulis added a good ‘kick’ to the overall dish, a zesty flavor that creeps up on you while you are enjoying the rest of this decadent dessert. All the items on the plate compliments one another. Loved it.
Chicken Bolognaise with fries, 19 ringgit
We were still a lil hungry after the dessert and so we decided to give one of their pastas a go – nothing that was not too overly complicated, so the Chicken Bolognaise with fries was a good choice. I liked the fact that they used Fettuccine instead of Spaghetti. The pasta + minced meat + sauce + cheese was a creamy, meaty combination of yumminess. This was exactly what I needed after a wholesome dessert.
Would I head back here?
Not as often as I would like considering it is located all the way in Sunway but yea, I’d visit them again. especially for their desserts.
