Rise & Shine by Tapestry @ Chow Kit – A nice change from the usual (Pork Free)

If you guys fancy a change of scenery, away from the usual hustle and bustle, perhaps something more calm and collected – then, do consider this new eatery.  I mean, just look at the surrounding, this certainly was a refreshing change.

Located in downtown KL, just down the road from Heritage Row and situated directly opposite Stripes Hotel, Rise & Shine sure was aesthetically pleasing. To me, it’s a nice mix between Jao Tim (its elegance and class) and JWC (its structure and vastness) .. does that make sense?

Parking may be easy or difficult. If you are cool with taking chances with the ‘saman’ guys, most people simply double parked directly outside the eatery. I suppose with several hotels in the area, perhaps chances of your car getting towed is a lil low? I, for one, am a law abiding citizen, lol. If you are like me and intend to do it right by parking in a proper spot, I parked near to Heritage Row and walked. No sweat, less than 5 minutes away

The Chicken comes with two pieces of meat – a thigh and a drumstick. It was nicely glazed honey + sriracha sauce, which gave it a nice sweet, sticky feel rather than spicy. If you are a fan of the Korean Fried Chicken, then perhaps you’d like this dish. It was crispy on the outside, meaty on the inside. The dish comes with a side of chips/ fries and fennel salad. If you are not too hungry and do not fancy a meal that is too heavy, filling – do consider The Chicken.

My friend ordered this dish because she wanted something more of the breakfast variety and healthy. I suppose it came in a nice, decent portion? We wouldn’t know as we rarely order these sort of dishes. Simply imagine the bowl size to be the size of those brown coconuts, the ones we use to obtain coconut milk/santan. It was a nice change from the usual. It came with plenty of fruits and berries – blueberries, strawberries, pomegranate, coconut drizzle, granola, chia seed, banana with a nice dose of gula melaka. There was a mix of textures – soft and milky, hard and crunchy, and taste.

Would I head back here?

Yea sure, If I fancy a change of scenery, I’d head back here.
