I usually have this problem … when I am in a big group, it is so easy to figure out where to head to but when it is just me, it does not come as easy. Which cafe would offer me a conducive environment to get some work done? A place that is quiet, with good wifi? Do you guys have this issue as well?
I initially ended up at Tujoh but unfortunately, during my time of visit – there were plenty of people and it was noisy, unlikely for me to get any work done. Bummer! As I was heading back to my car, in the midst of me wallowing in disappointment, I saw Pastryville, which is located directly opposite Tujoh. Funny thing is, I am in the area at least once weekly, passed by it many times and yet, I’ve never dropped by for a visit.
Glad I finally decided to pay a visit. Why? It was quiet, it has good wifi and it offers me a variety in terms of food.
It has the usual bakery setting. Pastries on display on one side and tables for customers to sit at on the other side.
It was a perfect place for me to get some work done. This certainly is more of a neighborhood bakery. Most of the customers that walked in are repeat customers, there was an air of familiarity there. They knew what to order and how much it cost, they even have a ‘regular’ table to sit at. I had a good time here. It was quiet, almost everyone brought their laptop with them. I guess we all had a mutual motivation to get some work done. I am glad I found Pastryville.
Besides pastries and cakes, they also offer pizza, pasta, burger and sandwiches.
Chicken Signature Burger, 15.90
Honestly, I was not expecting food to be good. Based on my experiences with bakeries, in most cases, their pastries may be awesome but their main meals – not so much. I however, was sooo hungry that pastries simply would not be enough. I decided to risk it and give their burger a try.
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. This was a set meal, it came with burger (beef/chicken), a side of mash potato or wedges and a drink (ice lemon or peach tea) at a cost of 15.90 ringgit. The burger was juicy and yummy. There was the burger bun, followed by a burger patty topped with melted cheese, pineapples, tomatoes and greens. The potato wedges were freshly fried, I like that despite the thickness, it was crispy on the outside. The dish as a whole was better than what I anticipated.
I would certainly be back and perhaps this time, I would give their pastries a go.
