We paid this new dessert cafe a visit today. Since we were already in the area and were craving for some sweet delights, Sweet Escape was the perfect eatery to head to.Β
As Sweet Escape is brought to you by Inside Scoop, it isn’t a surprise that the main offering here is of the ice cream variety. Besides that, they also offer waffles and cakes.
Apam Balik Waffle + a scoopΒ of ice cream (Kurma Sutra), 19.40 ringgit
Okay, I know 20 ringgit may seem a lil steep for a waffle + a scoop of ice cream, the thought did cross my mind too but trust me it was worth it. The waffle was light and airy, with plenty of nuts and peanut butter sauce. There were also bits of corn inside the waffle and the combination of all this ingredients, surprisingly did end up tasting like an apam balik. I loved it. It was absolutely scrumptious and delightful.
My sister was with me and usually, she’d barely eat a quarter of the waffle and pass on the rest to me. This works well because I’m the one with the sweet tooth in this family but …. surprise surprise, she ate half of it this time.Β
The ice cream, Kurma Sutra was delicious. Sweet Escape serves up about at least 16 varieties of ice cream flavors and this particular one is supposedly a crowd favorite. I do agree, it was yummy. It is made up crushed almonds + dates + milk + organic unrefined sugar + agave syrup. I thought what I’d taste is the unique yet somewhat overpowering taste of dates but nope, what I got instead was a more subtle version. It is there, it exist, you’d be able to taste it but in no way overwhelming. It was nice. Thick and milky it was, not too sweet, it was just right. Having it one its own was delicious but Kurma Sutra with the apam balik waffle? Da’ bomb! Soo good.
