After an early morning meeting this morning in SS 15, the bunch of us decided to drive over to this eatery to indulge in some pastry goodies. We’ve never heard of Good Ground Bakery until recently when it was mentioned/tagged in a post on Facebook. We checked it out online and figured we’d give it a visit if and when we are in the area.
Good Ground Bakery is located within a row of shops, nestled inside a quiet housing area. If you are not from the area or if you don’t see or hear about it being mentioned, then it is unlikely that you’d know of its existence. If it wasn’t for social media, we wouldn’t know of it either. Now that I do, I like it. It is understated and somewhat hidden. It obviously is a well loved neighborhood eatery judging from the regulars that drop by for their fix. It is lively, yet quiet. It sucks that they do not have wifi here but I see myself enjoying a cuppa coffee while munching on the buttery croissants they offer.
**Β Parking was easy and free. There were plenty available in front of and around the bakery.
From its name, you can conclude that this is a bakery. They serve an array of pastries ranging from croissant, Matcha & Chocolate tarts, cakes, brownies, cookies, scones and quiche. It is a rather small eatery. Most of the space is taken up by the open kitchen at the back. You would be able to see the bakers in action in real time. At the front, there are a couple of tables and chairs to sit customers. It is small and cozy.
Banana Slice, 6 ringgit
If you love banana cake, you would be happy with the slice served here. I’ve been to several cafes whereby they serve the same dish, for the same price but the amount of bananas actually used in it is rather questionable. They call it banana cake/slice, but it’s basically 80% flour and 20% bananas. You’d barely be able to taste it. Here though, it tasted awesome. Not only is the slice dense and moist, you would get a generous amount of banana bits scattered all over it. Be warned though, it is filling. To truly enjoy it, its best eaten when your stomach isn’t full.
Scone, 8 ringgit
The scones here are buttery and soft with lots of cranberries inside. It does not include strawberry and butter, if you want some – there is a surcharge of 2 ringgit. The scones here are buttery and soft with lots of cranberries inside. Honestly though, the sides isn’t a necessity. Having the scone on its own was delightful. It tasted good. However, there are some folks out there that can’t go without jam and butter when enjoying scones – like my dear friend here .. no harm then. The scone on its own was tasty, the jam and butter will only make it even better.
