I was dreaming of having some couliflower fried rice today and I knew just the place to head to. It definitely is not a common dish and is rather hard to come by. That being said, about 2 months ago, a friend told me about this very dish being served at Uncle Lee’s and how yummy it was. I forgot about it until the craving started. So, off I went …. only to discover that Uncle Lee has ceased operations as of 2 weeks ago. Bummer. Lucky me though that this row of shops houses several eateries, I was kindda spoilt for choice honestly. Given that I’ve tried several of them, I was in the mood for something new and among the available options, Cafe Del Tesso was one of them.

Lunch Set: Butter Chicken, 9.90 ringgit + Lunch Set: Kung Pao Chicken, 9.90 ringgit + Chicken Pepperoni 6″ Pizza, 12 ringgit

I was pretty impressed by their lunch sets. You’d get a rice dish with a drink for only 9.90 ringgit. Many eateries tend to downsize a dish if it is part of a set meal but not Cafe Del Tesso. Look forward to getting a full, hearty meal.
Among the rice dishes, I was told that the Butter Chicken was their most popular dish. I liked it, it was tasty. The gravy was thick, creamy and was accompanied with a generous portion of boneless chicken pieces. The meat was well cooked, it had just the right texture – juicy and tender…. and did I mention that it cost me only 9.90 ringgit and that too including a refreshing glass of cranberry drink ?? It sure is good value for money. Affordable and tasty. Yum!
The next dish we savored was the ChickenΒ Pepperoni Pizza. This too was a crowd favorite among the available options. It was tasty – nice flavor, generous chicken bits and cheese. The only downside was its size. It may be 6 inch but I could easily finish it within 5,6 mouths in. Wish it was bigger. It certainly is a dish I’d call filling. Not at all. If you are looking for something yummy but small in size – this could be it. I however, was still hungry and so, I decided to further indulge in their Kung Pao Rice Set.
The Kung Pao Chicken was good too. Again, a generous portion of chicken, this time with thick somewhat sweetish kechup sauce + dried chili. The only thing missing to make this a full on Kung Pao dish would be cashewnuts but give ghe very affordable price point, I suppose the cashews can be excused. Now this dish, unlike the pizza, was filling. It tasted awesome.Β
I would be back here. Their lunch sets are worth every penny and it is available all through the pm till 5 pm. On top of that, they have WIFI here, which means I can literally kill 2 birds with one stone – have a good meal while getting work done and that is a good deal.
