Yomie’s Rice X Yogurt @ Uptown, PJ – Purple rice yogurt …

I stumbled upon a new dessert shop in Uptown last week. We had to drive past this particular row of shops on my way towards SS 2.

The specific row of shops in reference is the one next to the police station. The same one that houses Ipoh Cravings and Creme De La Creme, Yomie’s is located within the same area, except in the row at the back. You’d find this side generally quieter and with plenty of parking spots.




I did not know that there were several other Yomie’s around town, did you?? Apparently they have an outlet in Gardens Mall, Lot 10, SS15, Sri Petaling and Setapak. I did not know as it was definitely my first time coming across this brand.

Anyways, I was curious enough that I did another drive by today and saw that they were doing rather well. I already had lunch but still a little more space left for dessert and so, I stopped by.





Yomie’s Purple Rice Yogurt, 13.90 ringgit



It was different, I suppose. Definitely not the usual dessert variety we come across usually. It is light and simple. The main attraction here is the Purple Rice Yogurt which was what we decided to go for. Upon trying, my Indian friend summed it up really well “this is Thairu and pulut hitam lah”. Yea, that was exactly what it was – yogurt with a healthy portion of black glutinous rice. The sour-ish taste from the yogurt and the slightly sweetish, chewiness from the black rice makes a rather unusual combination.ย 

This may or may not be your cup of tea. It wasn’t mine. In the future, would I spend 13.90 ringgit on rice yogurt or get myself 2 decadent scoops of ice creamย  for almost the same price elsewhere?? I would definitely be swaying towards the latter. So yea, if you want something healthier, I suppose Yomie’s is ideal.
