Affordable Open Daily Pasta Pesto Pasta Pork Chop Set Lunch

Vary Pasta @ Damansara Jaya, PJ – Yummy pasta & pork chop

We finally visited this eatery, finally. It has been around for almost 12 years and I am pretty sure I’ve driven passed it just as long only to miss it every time.ย

I suppose its location is partly to be blamed. It is located in the row of shops that directly faces Atria but because it occupies a shop lot that is towards the end, it is easily overlooked. The only reason I remembered to drop by this time was because I set a reminder. Yes, I was adamant to visit Vary and since this particular trip to Damansara Jaya was planned ahead of time, I inserted a reminder in my phone to have lunch at Vary after my meeting at Atria. It was less that a 5 minutes walk away. No sweat.

This is definitely a no frills restaurant. It has been around since 2008, almost 12 years and aesthetically – it shows but in this case, it works as it is all part of its charm. It was uniquely quaint and homely.ย

Customer service was great. They were quick to attend and serve us, helpful when we needed assistance. Especially with the set lunches were several dishes are involved one after another, they kept a lookout. Never once did we have to alets them to clear our plate to bring over the next dish. It was all handled professionally.

Parking: We rounded the area 3 times in hopes of getting a parking spot on the street but all was occupied. We ended up parking in Atria, which was awesome because we simply had to cross the road and the restaurant was around the corner. The rates were – first hour is free, and subsequent hours cost 1 ringgit.ย

Fettuccine al Pesto with Chicken, 16.20 ringgit + Lunch Set C: Grilled Pork Chop with Spaghettiย

I decided to give one of their set lunches a go, specifically Set C. The set meals here includes a drink + soup + main meal + dessert, all for 18.50 ringgit, which I thought was good value for money.ย  I had the hot green tea + carrot soup + pork chop + ice cream combo. It was delicious, I especially loved the pork chop. It was juicy, tender and I appreciated the fact that the black pepper gravy wasn’t overpowering. The carrot soup was pretty good too, thick and flavorful. After I was done with the starter and the main meal, they served me a nice scoop of ice cream which resembled the Paddle Pop rainbow ice cream I used to indulge in back in the day after school. Yup, it sure brought back some happy memories.

This was my friends’ order but since I am a fan of pesto, I couldn’t resist digging in. It was yummy. The taste of pesto was evident and on top of that, there was a generous sprinkle of grated cheese and cheese, when melted, it gets all creamy and gooey. Yesssssss!! Add in a nice portion of chicken โ€ฆ. yummmm.
