I was on my own today for lunch and I decided that lunch was going to be a dessert of some kind. As I was browsing the net for options, I came across Slow Coffee and their popular pancakes offering – specifically of the soufflé variety. It has been ages since I’ve indulged in pancakes and the images online was very tempting. This sealed the deal for me. I was headed to Slow Coffee for lunch.
This café is located in The Hub SS 2. It is nestled within the same row of shops as Flakes and DuJour. Getting there was really easy. You park in the basement for an hourly rate of 1 ringgit. Then, you take the lift up to the Ground floor and take a look around, you’d find this café.
Menu
Pu’er Souffle Pancake, 18 ringgit
The words usually synonymous with soufflé pancakes are airy, bouncy and fluffy … and the ones here certainly embodied that. It was a nice aesthetically pleasing ‘blob’ on a plate, lol. The pancake comes with Pu’er gelato, which I was told is tea flavored and muesli crumble + vanilla syrup. The combination was lovely. I like tea flavored ice cream and gelato and so, it was no surprise that I enjoyed this one. It was thick, milky and not to sweet. Having it with the pancake and the crumble was awesome. The crunch, the fluffiness, the milkyness and the sweetness makes for a divine combination. The vanilla syrup was an added bonus. Souffle pancakes are all about the eggs and to some, the egg aftertaste may be a lil overwhelming and the syrup, tones its way down and in its place would be the tantalizing taste of vanilla. Loved it.
