I am sick with the flu 🙁 No, not the Covid-19 virus but with the usual flu. Speaking from experience, I must say I miss the day where I could sneeze and cough without anyone looking like I spread the Black Plague. Now, they just look and stare, with laser beams coming out of their eyes screaming ‘B***h, you better get away from me before I smack you down like Rocky Balboa’.
Well, lets just say that by the end of the day, I was drained and simply wanted a quiet corner, to get some work done and be left alone. As I was driving around TTDI, I came across this bakery. Based on my social media stalking, I’d say it is new?? Their grand reopening was 14-16th February, last month. Grand reopening?? Were they open all this while and I somehow missed it?? I know they were closed for a while as they underwent renovation and when they opened doors again … hence, the ‘grand reopening’ but before that, have they been opened long? I have no idea.
Where is it located? Big Tree Bakery is located within the same row as McDonalds but towards the other end, beyond Dotty’s.
** There is WIFI here
I needed some quiet, preferable with WIFI and I got that here. There were people chatting away, with kids running around but the good thing was that there were quiet corners that provided me with what I needed to get some work done.
Rose Strawberry White Chocolate, 6.50 ringgit + Reese’s Peanut Butter, 6.50 ringgit
The cupcakes were delicious. Here, it is served somewhat cold?? I liked it, a refreshing change from the usual. Compared to other cupcakes I’ve tasted so far, the ones here is somewhat different. Besides the cold factor, the base here is more dense and compact, it is literally a mini cake by itself.
With the Rose Strawberry White Chocolate, you’d get a nice drizzle of white chocolate on the top with a serving of rose flavored icing. After you’ve cut through the cupcake, you’d notice a portion of strawberry jam. If you want a light dessert that is not only sweet but also a tad sour-ish, this cupcake might just be it.
With the Reese’s Peanut Butter cupcake, there was a thin hard layer of chocolate on the top and a serving of peanut butter icing. Then, right in the middle of it all is a portion of peanut butter. As I am a lover of anything peanut butter, it is no surprise that I enjoyed this cupcake.
Burnt Cheesecake, 15 ringgit
This cheesecake was good. It was dense and moist. Definitely isn’t the usual cake-like texture we usually come across. It was creamier and smoother, literally melts in your mouth. Taste wise, almost similar to ‘New York cheese cake’. Despite not feeling well, I liked it. I guess my mouth is currently suffering from selective tasting, lol. It seem to work just fine when it comes to desserts.
