Burnt Cheesecake Dessert Gelato Open Daily Salted Caramel Almond Chocolate

Vintage 1988 @ Jalan Sultan – A nice place to chill

Ever since the Covid 19 pandemic and MCO, I’ve spent an insane amount of time cooped up indoors and I do not think that was going to change anytime soon. I needed a break today. Just a little breather outdoors. Perhaps sitting down in a quiet cafe, simply immersing myself in the change of scenery would be a boost to my declining morale.

After weighing down my options, I ultimately decided on Vintage 1988. Why? because under usual circumstances, this particular part of town is often filled with tourist. If you are a regular at Petaling Street, then you’d know of Jalan Sultan,  located five minutes away from one another. Both are usually filled with tourist. Now, in their absence, it is really quiet and as predicted, we had the whole place all to ourselves.

Having the whole cafe to ourselves was awesome. They had Michael Bublè playing on the radio, belting out classics like “Save the last dance for me” and “Georgia on my mind.” This paired with the overall ambiance of the cafe plus the gloomy skies outside sure did set the lazy, relaxing mood I was in. Totally what I needed to ease me away from all the stress I was in of late.

** They have WIFI here but it had really bad connection. Throughout the hour and a half I was there, it disconnected every second. I eventually gave up doing work because I spent more time trying to connect to the network than actually getting any work done. Perhaps you guys would have better luck than I do.

Menu

Salted Caramel Almond Chocolate Gelato, 9 ringgit + Burnt Cheesecake, 10 ringgit

I would have loved to give their burgers or waffles a try but I already had a heavy lunch prior to my visit here. So, a gelato sounded good for now. They had about 8 different flavors and I went with the Salted Caramel Almond Chocolate. It was nice – not too sweet, milky and gooey. There was lumps of dense chocolate and nuts which provided a difference in texture. I liked it.

The Cheesecake was on promotion. What usually would cost me 18 ringgit is now 10 ringgit. It sounded like a good deal and since I was craving for more desserts, this suited me just fine. It was thick and dense, as it should be. Yummy.
