Bean Sprout Char Siew Char Siew Rice Chicken Rice Wan Tan Mee

TNR The Real Charsiew by Sean & Angie @ SS 2, PJ – Tasty Char Siew Rice and Wan Tan Mee

Did you guys know that there are two Toast and Roast in SS 2. I did not and because of that, there was some confusion, lol.

It was a funny story, really. My friends and I decided to catch up for lunch. We wanted to indulge in some char siew rice, wan tan mee and we all agreed on Toast & Roast. As I was the odd one out, heading over from a distance away, I told them I would meet them there. 15 minutes later, there I was but where were my friends? According to their messages, they reached 10 minutes ago and have already ordered on my behalf but where are they? So, I called them and the conversation went like this … “Yeaaa, where are you?” “We’re in Toast & Roast lah… you where?” “I’m here lah at Toast and Roast, I don’t see you all laaaaa” “Huh? We don’t see you. We are here laaa, order food d” “Dey bro, you don’t play play laaaa” …. Then, phone was passed on to another friend … “Dey, I think ah you’re at the wrong Toast & Roast la. It is not the one with the orange signboard” “Huh?? SS 2 got two Toast & Roast?” “Yea man but one is Toast & Roast and the other is TNR … you type ‘TNR by Sean and Angie’ into Waze and come here. Faster ah, we all eating d” …. Ummmm πŸ€”πŸ€” could have told me that from the start, right? 😑😑

Anyways, about 8 minutes later, I arrived at TNR, finally. Parking was rather easy as the restaurant was located slightly away from the usual “forever busy’ retail square. I managed to get a parking spot just two doors away from TNR.

Brad Pig?? Lol, what a cutie 🀭🀭

The eatery itself has a simple, modern setting. Pretty relaxing. During lunch hour, they were full but good news was that the crowd moves pretty fast. They eat and they leave, no lingering. So, even if you end up having to wait, it wouldn’t be long.

Menu

Chicken & Charsiew Rice + Charsiew Wan Tan Mee + Bean Sprouts = 26 ringgit

Food was good. The Chicken and Charsiew rice was tasty. The pork had a half meat, half fats ratio. The dish comes with a side of chili paste and sweet, thick black sauce which was da bomb. It made everything taste even better. I couldn’t get enough of it, honestly. I kept requesting for more. The chicken was nice and tender. I specifically requested for breast meat which meat that I was served juicy, meaty pieces of chicken. Overall, a tasty dish.

The Charsiew Wan Tan Mee came with a nice portion of noodles + 5, 6 pieces of char siew + crispy pork lard and a side of soup with 3 dumplings. It was tasty. My friends enjoyed it.

Overall, food was good and we had a pleasant experience here. While all of us agree to this, some of us like Toast & Roast better while the other half loves TNR. So, it depends on you and which one you fancy.
