If you like an artsy, colorful space, one with a creative feel – you’d like 6 Yi. If you want to simply ‘lepak’ while sipping on a cuppa tea and reading a book, you can do that here too as they have a mini collection of books.

6 Yi is located on the first floor and I don’t think there is a big, obvious sign board outside to indicate where exactly the cafe is. So, if you are driving around the block to try and locate it, to decide where best to park, you might not find it. So, do look out for All Thai restaurant on the Ground floor, as the stairway next to it leads you to this cafe.
Β Besides the cafe itself being all artsy, they are also supportive of the local arts scene, as can be seen through the discounts they offer to these particular group of peeps. So, if you are a member of any of these organizations, you get to eat for free through MUKA.Β

Foodwise, there isn’t a wide variety here. Besides the cakes and snacks, the only ‘heavier’, more filling options are the four rice bowls. If you arrive at noon, pretty much around the time they open, cakes may not be an option. I arrived at 12.30 pm, fully intending to have a slice of cake for lunch. Perhaps indulge in some Chocolate Mousse or Tiramisu? However, I was told that only the Rum Raisin Chocolate Cake was available? The rest of the cakes will arrive later in the day. So, that was a bummer. I instead opted for a rice bowl.

Chicken Chop Rice, 16.90 ringgit

This dish took quite a while to arrive, a good 15 to 20 minutes. Perhaps it is due to there being many customers and just one cook/chef? I wasn’t in a rush, so waiting around was not an issue.
Eventually, when the dish arrived, it looked nice and appetizing. However, I do think it is a tad overpriced for what it is – rice, chicken, egg, one piece of broccoli. Almost 17 ringgit for this? I’ve never been served one piece of broccoli, only one. What is the purpose of that? That was kindda funny, lol.
Overall, the food was nice. It was a simple dish. The rice came with no gravy or sauce. So, what blends it all nicely would be the egg. It was cooked in a way whereby the yolk is soft, gooey. When broken apart and mixed, the rice gets all dense and sticky. The chicken provided much of the overall flavor to this dish. The sesame drizzle on the top was awesome. The meat had a nice flavor to it, it was tender and juicy. All in all, a simple yet filling dish. I still do think it is a tad overpriced at almost 17 ringgit.Β Besides that, the visit overall was pleasant. The appeal here is the colorful, vibrant cafe interior, the selection of books you can pick up to read as well as the drinks, desserts and snacks. If all of this are important to you, you would enjoy 6 Yi. If you are all about the food, as in you need more variety and options, 6 Yi may not offer you that. It all depends on you and your personal preferences.Β Address: 12 A, First Floor, Jalan Awan Hijau, OUG.
