Bacon & Peanut Pork Burger Burger Roasted Spring Chicken Set Lunch

Eight at Mansion @ Happy Mansion, Sec. 17, PJ – Yummy

I just realised that I haven’t been to Happy Mansion for more than a year. Really?? It seem soooo long ago. I always thought the longest I’ve been away is perhaps 6 months and that too because of Covid 19 but I guess it has been a year since because otherwise, I would have noticed Eight at Mansion. It was only because I took a drive around the 3 blocks last week that I knew of this restaurant.

Eight at Mansion is located in Block A, right next to one of my favorite ‘lepak’ spots – The Hideaway (Hideaway @ Section 17, PJ – Cakes, cakes, cakes and pasta, of course πŸ™‚ ). So, it is unlikely that I’d miss what is right next door from my favorite hang out digs, right? Such is the case though as when asked, I was told that Eight at Mansion has been around for a whole year now. How did I miss this? πŸ€”πŸ€”

Set Lunch: Spring Chicken, RM 19 + Bacon & Peanut Pork Burger, RM 24

I decided to give their Set Lunch a try. The dish cones with a whole chicken leg piece. It was a well seasoned meat that was juicy and tender. Rather easy to cut into, some parts of it literally falls off the bone with ease. Eating it on its own was delightful enough but adding on that thick BBQ sauce though was divine. A tasty dish it was. Besides the chicken itself, the dish comes with a serving of potato wedges and a side of salad with lemonade and a scoop of ice cream.

We were in the mood for a burger and upon enquiring , the Bacon and Peanut Pork Burger was suggested to us. It is apparently a crowd favorite. I understand why because upong tasting it, it was yummy. The bacon most certainly complimented the patty and the burger as a whole. Thin, crispy bacon would not work here. The texture simply wouldn’t be right. Good thing the pieces of bacon here thicker and juicier. It worked well with the thick, miso infused homemade patty. Flavorful it was. Overall, a yummy dish. The only issue I had was the peanut. It was very mild. I was told that it should resemble or rather is similar to the satay peanut sauce but I did not taste that. The unique peanut flavor was very mild. In its place was a somewhat thick mayo sauce that was sweet and buttery. I liked it, it worked well with the burger. The peanut taste was very mild but I get why. Perhaps it is because it is rather difficult to find a middle ground? We may all like peanuts but exactly how much differ individually. So yea, I get it.

Overall, food was good. I may be back for another visit soon. Looking forward to try the pork ribs next.
