Well, hello there. It has been a while since we’ve last posted a review. Apologies, we were in the midst of moving houses. I guess we overlooked how much effort was needed to ensure a smooth transition. Tiring it was but equally enlightening.
Anyways, we are mostly settled and can get back to reviewing food now. Our most recent visit would be to Fake Bro Real Pork, which saw us heading back to REXKL. If you’ve read our previous post on REXKL – https://thefoodbunny.com/2020/10/20/lauk-pauk-the-background-rexkl-jalan-sultan-a-nice-place-to-chill-foods-good-too/ , you’d know the background as well as the food setup here. To me, this particular part/section of REX is a modern, colorful, artsy foodcourt.
The latest/newest/recent addition to REXKL is Fake Bro Real Pork and they are all about Char Siew and Siew Yoke. With the MCO in place, I haven’t indulge in some sweet, succulent char siew in ages. So, naturally when I heard about this eatery in particular, it got me salivating, my tongue wagging.
Parking: As mentioned in previous postings, whenever we visit Jalan Sultan, we park at the basement carpark of 5 Elements Hotel, located opposite the road, at an hourly rate of RM 4. It is barely a 5 minutes walk away from REXKL. No sweat.

Menu

Char Siew with Chicken Rice, RM 9.50 + Char Siew with Roast Pork Curry Mee, RM 20

Food was very good, all of us enjoyed it. Sure, some of us were sweating profusely due to the Curry Mee but man, it was da bomb. So delicious. I loved the char siew. Each piece was sweet, succulent and generous in portion size. The siew yoke, I usually am not a fan but this one here was real nice, almost as if I was eating a nugget with a crunchy layer. Having the pork with soft, dense, flavorful rice was the icing on the cake. It could not get any better than this. Mighty glad that this was my first taste of char siew after months of going without.
The Curry Mee was yummy too. The broth was thick and flavorful. It wasn’t spicy but it was fresh-off-the- stove hot and so, all our foreheads started sweating within minutes, lol. Lots of flavor though. Nice, real nice. With a good portion of noodles, fuchuk, char siew and roasted pork, this dish was da bomb too. Loved the taste as well as all the items that accompanied this dish. I’d definitely reorder these two dishes when I return for another visit in the near future. Yes, I will!!
