My friend had a meeting at this dessert shop and the plan was that I was suppose to meet him there, pick him up and drive off elsewhere to have dinner. That did not happen though. He was gushing about the gelato here, about how delicious it was and that I really, really needed to give it a try. So, rather than heading to dinner somewhere else, I ended up having two large scoops of gelato that was simply DIVINE! Hooo myyy godddd ππ Fo reals, yawww. I’m not exaggerating.



L’unico Gelateria is run by a husband and wife team. The duo makes the gelato themselves and are in constant R&D mode to enable them to create/produce more variety and unique flavors. The best part is :
- No preservative and fake coloring used
- 4 scoops of gelato = 1 bowl of rice

4 scoops equals a bowl of rice?? Say whatt?? There I was hesitating on having two scoops to share between us, didn’t want to add on more weight than I already did but apparently, I did not have to worry. It seems like these Gelato are even better that those chocolates and biscuits I usually ‘hantam’. Of course, too much of anything is never good, moderation is the way to go but if I were to find for a healthier option to replace my weekly chocolate stash, gelato is my answer – it taste as good but with lesser calories and with more options, variety of flavors.
Speaking of flavors … some of their flavors are super unique and in some sense, bizzare.




Who on earth could have seen chili crab as a gelato? Certainly not me and definitely not you too but the husband and wife duo behind this gelato shop visualized it and created “Malaysia’s First Chili Crab Gelato.”
Let’s just say that I was initially apprehensive when i came acrossed it. My mind equates gelato to something sweet and milky, savoury is not even in the picture. However, that mindset shifted rather quickly after I was given a little taste.
One thing is certain here, they go all out with their flavors. For instance, if you decide on their black sesame gelato, rest assure that you’d be getting a load of black sesame. No such thing as a vanilla based gelato with pockets of sesame sprinkle, just enough to make the taste of sesame evident. Nope, no such thing here. The whole scoop of gelato will be packed with sesame flavor and bits, it is ‘kaw kaw’. I managed get a taste of several of their best sellers before deciding on my flavors of choice and all of them were ‘kaw kaw’. I loved it. So potent!! Yumm!
Some of their bestselling flavors were – Rum & Raisin, Black Sesame & Peanut Butter, Salted Egg Crab, Chili Crab, Durian, Kahlua.

Durian + Chili Crab

Yup, I ended up getting the Chili Crab. If you’d ask me at the start, what flavors I would like to try … While Durian is a YESSS!, the other flavor I’d most likely go for is Chocolate or Rum & Raisins but after I got a taste of the Chili Crab though, I knew I had to have it. It was da’ bomb.
The Chili Crab was as real as it gets. The gelato was sweet and spicy at the same time. You’d be able to taste the chili. The taste itself was amazing, the different textures were soo realistic, its rather mind blowing. I don’t know how they managed to do it but there was something in there that actually resembled crab meat. So, you’d get the creamy, milky gelato with generous bits of ‘crab’ meat. Amazeballs, yawww.
The Durian … oooo man, soooo good! It is almost as if you are eating the real thing, minus the hassle of trying to break apart its thorny exterior and getting your hands messy trying to removes the pieces from the fruit. Yea, it was da bomb. I loveee durian and was real pissed that I did not manage to get a taste of it during the last durian season but not anymore. The craving is well and truly satisfied now.
I’d be back, for sure. Seriously thinking of getting myself a pint of Chili Crab …
