East Coast cuisine Fish Keropok Gulai Ikan Halal Kelantanese Nasi Dagang Nasi Dagang Gulai Ikan New 2020 Open Daily Takeaway/Delivery service Tom Yum Fried Rice

Dèli Wau @ Citta Mall, Ara Damansara – Nasi Dagang ? Yummmm (Halal)

If I am not mistaken, this is a relatively new restaurant. They began operating somewhere mid last year, in the midst of the Covid pendemic. What a time to start, ey?

Citta Mall is not a place I usually ‘lepak’ at and so, I would not have known of the existence of this Kelantanese restaurant if it wasn’t for my friends. Yup, with this being their regular hangout, they’d know who’s in and who’s out, what’s new or old as well as what is good. They tried the food at Deli Wau and found the food there to be pretty good.

I was honestly at a lost on where and what to order and they suggested Deli Wau to me. I am all for East Coast cuisine, loveeeee it! So, there you go .. lunch was set.

Menu

Nasi Dagang Gulai ikan, RM 16.90 + Nasi Goreng Tom Yum, RM 17

As I was within the 10 km MCO requirement, I opted for Self Pickup. It certainly saved me a couple of bucks on delivery. The ordering process was smooth – I sent them a message via Whatsapp, placed my order, food was ready within 15 minutes, I picked it up and paid. It was easy peasy.

Nasi Dagang Gulai Ikan

I know paying almost RM 17 for Nasi Dagang is a bit much for some but there is a valid reason to it though. Here, the dish comes with a large piece of fish. Certainly bigger than most of the other nasi dagang dishes I’ve had elsewhere. The gravy is a tad thicker than most other places too. I liked it. To me, it being thicker meant that it was more potent? I was able to enjoy the taste of it more. Does it make sense? The dish basically consistes of rice + fish + egg + pickled cucumber + fish keropok. Overall, a tasty dish. The fish crackers were yummy. I liked it a whole lot that I decided to add on a packet of it at a cost of RM 2.50, which I thought was cheap. I’d usually end up paying RM 4.50 – RM 5 for a pack that size. I regret not purchasing a few more packets as I gobbled it all up within 15 minutes.

Tom Yum Fried Rice

This was one of their best selling dishes and it is best eaten fresh of the stove, warm and hot. My mistake was I arrived almost 45 minutes late to collect my food, due to work and then, add on another 15 minutes for me to arrive home. So, all in all, it was an hour later that I finally ate my food. The timing was solely my fault and the dish ended up being a little soggy … nothing a pop in the microwave cant solve. It was nice but I had a feeling that if I had eaten it immediately after it was cooked, it would have been delicious. The portion size is big, you’d get lots of rice. The taste of tom yum was evident, the rice was tasty and well flavored. On the side, you’d get a fried egg, cucumber and a generous portion of fried calamari and prawns. A pretty good dish.

I look forward to giving the Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik a try next.
