I’ve been wanting to give Gaga a try for a while now but the on again, off again MCO derailed any of my plans of visiting earlier. Here I am though, at long last. If it was just the cakes, I wouldn’t mind waiting longer but it has been ages since I’ve had a taste of tarts. I am not talking about the usual egg, chocolate, cheese, blueberry, matcha tarts. Nope, I am talking about a variety other than the usual and I was told that I could indulge in them at Gagas.

Tarts …. Raspberry Frangipani, Pecan Coffee, Caramel Banana Chocolate … ooo yess yesssss. Just the variety I was looking for. Besides tarts, they also have cakes and loafs, in room temperature as well as in the chiller. The price range was from RM 10 to RM 18.
Pecan Coffee Tart, RM 16 + Banana Loaf, RM 10 + Black Forest, RM 17

This was my tart of choice today, the Pecan Coffee. I chose this because pecan meant that it would be nutty, its apparently a crowd favorite and I was assured that this dessert was not too sweet.
I got exactly what I wanted. Nutty with just the right amount of sweetness. The white round-ish thing around the top of the tart is coffee cream? A mildly sweet coffee–ish cream. Then, you’d get a nice solid chocolatty pecan filling that was pleasant sweet, moist, dense and a generous portion of nuts to chew on. There was lots of things to like about this tart – it tasted real nice, it was not overly sweet, it had plenty of texture and it was rather filling. I also liked that the base of the tart was thin as oppose to the thick flour filled bottom that I’d come by at times. All in all, I was glad I purchased this specific tart. I loved everything about it. Truly satisfied.

The Banana Loaf is the most affordable item on the menu at RM 10, it also happened to be my all time favorite besides carrot cake, a slice of banana bread. Yumm! Here, you’d get a large slice of it. The taste and flavor of banana was evident as well as some cinnamon and bit of walnuts. Just like the tart, this too pleasantly sweet. I enjoyed this dish too. Perhaps the next time I give this ago, I’d request them to heat it up a bit before serving, simply because I generally like it a little soft and denser. Other than that, its all good.

This Black Forest cake was pretty good. As you can see from the images above, it comes in layers. The bottom to the mid section is made up of dense chocolate sponge cake with a hint of rum. Followed by cherrys and a layer of whip cream on the top. Be mindful that this cake comes with a hint of rum, so you’d be getting a taste of rum as an aftertaste. I liked it as it provided a mix of flavors in one cake – sweetness from the chocolate sponger cake and whip cream, sourness from the cheries and a slight bitter kick from the rum. A good mix of flavors.
