Ayam Goreng Berempah East Coast cuisine Gulai Ikan Tongkol Halal Kelantanese Nasi Dagang Nasi Kerabu New 2020

Bok’s Kito @ TTDI – Nasi Dagang & Nasi Kerabu, anyone?? (Halal)

Despite the last year being a difficult time for the F&B sector, there still were new pop ups here and there. One of those newbies is Bok’s Kito, which serves us Kelantanese cuisine. So, if you like East Coast specialties like Nasi Dagang and Nasi Kerabu you’d find it here.

The restaurant is located along Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 2. It is right next to the ‘Balai Bomba’ and is within the same row as Dotty’s. The restaurant itself was clean and well maintained. Well spaced out and bright, vibrant too.

They had a ‘mix rice’ concept, which I liked very much. Most of the time, with these dishes, the chicken and fish are already selected for you. So, you have no say on which part of the chicken you’d like or how large an ikan tongkol you want. No such problem here though. Here, you line up and wait for your turn. You tell them your order which in my case was Nasi Kerabu with Ayam Goreng Berempah, they proceeded to put the usual items that accompanied the Nasi Kerabu but when it came down to the ayam goreng beremph though – I got to pick the specific piece that I wanted. Yay!

Menu

*** The picture of the Menu I took was blurry. So, I’ve attached the Menu I found on Beepit. Prices may differ.

Nasi Kerabu with Ayam Goreng Berempah, RM 12.50 + Nasi Dagang with Ikan Tongkol, RM 10.50 + Teh Ais Madu , RM 7

Food was good, slightly pricier but food was good. The Nasi Dagang came with several options : Gulai Ikan Tongkol, Gulai Ayam or Daging. We opted for the Ikan Tongkol. The size of the fish is certainly bigger than most of the other Ikan Tongkol I’ve had elsewhere. Besides the rice and Ikan tongkol, the dish also came with fried egg + pickled vegetables + sambal cili. The gravy was thick, milky, flavorful and slightly sweetish. Overall, a good dish.

The Nasi Kerabu also had 3 options : Ayam Berempah, Ayam Percik and Daging Bakar. I opted for the Ayam Berempah. It was crispy and very flavorful, the taste of ‘rempah’ was evident. Chewy and meaty too. Having it with the rice was yummy. Besides the chicken and rice, the dish also came with kerabu salad + salted egg + fish crackers. A yummy and filling dish.

The Teh Ais Madu is their popular, crowd favorite drink. It tasted like the teh ais you’d get at mamak restaurants except rather than sugar, they use honey here. It was refreshing.
