Uncle Lim's Cafe @ Seapark, PJ - Tasty Nasi Lemak 👌👌

Today, we ‘bungkus’ lunch from Uncle Lim. We came across this new eatery a month ago while having dinner in the area. What caught my eye immediately was the kopitiam feel and look. I’ve always liked these kind of settings and took note to drop by sometime soon for a visit, I also liked that they serve some of my local favorites. Fast forward a few weeks later, here I was.

Nasi Lemak Rendang Chicken, RM 16

This was yummy. I thought what I’d be getting when I ordered this dish was the usual nasi lemak items – rice, egg, ‘kacang’, anchovies + chicken rendang. Not really. The sotong sambal was a surprise. It was slightly sweet, a tad spicy and you’d get a pretty large piece of squid. It was good. For the rendang, you’d get a juicy chicken thigh with some rendang sauce. Overall, the Nasi Lemak was tasty. I’d order it again.

Uncle Lim’s Laksa, RM 12.50

This was a little different from what I imagined. Based on the image in their Menu, I thought what I’d be getting is curry laksa. It was slightly different in terms of the broth. Here, you’d get two in one, both curry and asam laksa. The broth texture and color resembled curry laksa but the taste was all asam laksa. So yea, it was a hybrid. I liked it but for my friend – he took some time getting use to it. If you are a purist whereby you like one or the other and not a mix, Uncle Lim also offers Kari Mee and Asam Laksa separately.. go for that instead. As for me, no problem at all.

The dish comes with two pieces of ‘ikan tongkol’ / tuna, plenty of broth – it was somewhat thick with the taste of asam laksa evident, lots of noodles with bits of pineapples and onions. By the time you ‘bungkus’ and head back home, the dish would already be cold, so do heat it up as dishes such as this are best eaten hot.
