Burger Chicken Burger New 2021 Open Daily Pasta Truffle Carbonara Fettuccine

Belly & The Chef Dining @ Taman Bukit Indah – Chicken burger & Truffle Carbonara Fettuccine

*** We have removed a part of this post that touched on promotional mishap as Belly & The Chef has reached out and apologized for their mistake. They acknowledged the error on their part primarily in regards to the miscommunication between their crew as well as the promotion. So, to rectify this issue – they have decided to extend the promotion – till 31st July as indicated previously.

So, there you go folks. Thanks to Belly & the Chef team, you can now enjoy the tasty dishes from Belly & the Chef at a more affordable price πŸ™‚ I am very happy with this outcome. Having been writing food reviews for a while now, what these guys did was way more than what I expected. Usually with the case with negative reviews, most eateries usually ignore the post and whatever that was written on it… some will attempt to communicate with us via email, usually by sending us a content filled with nasty comments. Lastly, the worst of the lot will get their lawyer friend to write us a notice about them wanting to sue us for defamation. However when we were more than willing to remove a part of the post that they deemed is ‘defamatory’, they insist on us deleting the whole post 🀣🀣🀣 So, it is really defamation or you simply dont want to see a negative review about your restaurant online and this is how you play dirty?? No matter that what is written is the truth but between doing what is right and doing something to satisfy their ego, self righteousness and pride … I guess the latter is more important to them. So, based on what we’ve experienced with some other eateries and how this cafe decided to deal with the issue – I have mad respect for them. Not only did they apologize, they also addressed and dealt with it. It is only fair I remove a part of this post.

Anyways …. moving on …

Today, lunch is from this new, 3 month old cafe located in Taman Bukit Indah. Belly & The Chef is situated within the same row as Sunday Coffee & Cakes as well as YumCha.

The entrance of the cafe is located at the side of the shoplot as oppose to the front. If you do a drive by and it all seems quiet, do not assume that the eatery is close. It simply is because the way in into Belly & The Chef is on the side and not the front.

** This Belly & The Chef is not to be confused with another eatery in Cheras that shares the same name – Belly & the Chef @ Cheras – Pretty good πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ (Pork free) . Sharing the same name is as far as the similarities go.

This is a grey themed cafe with a good sizeable amount of greens. It’s actually rather calming sitting in there. Brightness gets in from the glass panels located on the side, lighting up the whole place.

Menu

So, when asked what dishes are popular, I was told that the Big Breakfast Platter, Truffle Carbonara Fettuccine, the A+ Chicken Burger and the Chicky Pumpkin Bowl is a crowd favorite. I decided to give the pasta and burger a go.

*** Please do note that the dishes I bought were priced at their normal pricing, without discount which in my opinion was a tad pricey especially during Covid/MCO. Things that I could afford prior to MCO is something I cant enjoy as much now because my finances took a hit too. With the promotion in place though, you guys get to enjoy a more affordable price point. 20% off when you order 2 dishes and 25% off when you order 3 dishes … that is awesome πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

A+ Chicken Burger, RM 34 + Truffle Carbonara Fettuccine, RM 38

The burger was tasty but I think paying RM 34 was a tad pricy for what it is. It consisted of burger buns + caramelized onions + tomato + lettuce + thin chicken patty. According to the menu, there was suppose to be a slice of Cheddar Cheese in the mix too. I did not see it but perhaps it has melted into the buns? The chicken patty was rather small, considering the cost of the burger, I would have expected it to be bigger or thicker, it wasn’t. The burger comes witha side of salad.

If you like your pasta thick and lumpy, you’d love this dish because that was what it was. Thick and gooey from the egg yolk and parmesan cheese. I liked it. The taste of truffle oil was evident. It was nicely blended with the pasta. The dish also included 2 types of mushroom – button mushroom and shimeji mushroon as well as hazelnuts. This dish I liked. You’d get a large portion too and it was my first time having pasta with hazelnuts in it. Definitely an interesting combination. However, am I willing to pay almost RM 40 for this dish again? Nope.

I think given that dining in is not allowed at the moment, paying what I paid for the two dishes I ordered is a tad pricey for me. Especially so when I cannot enjoy the cafe setting as well as customer service and etc. If I am allowed to holistically experience Belly & The Chef, then sure, maybe the price represents the food, service and setting. However, as all I am doing is ‘bungkus’ food which I self collect myself (no delivery needed), I feel like I am paying more than I should. Ultimately, the pricing of dishes are up to the cafe, rightfully so. It is your establishment to do as you please. However, me as a customer, in the current climate, it is not feasible for me to spend this amount of money on a pasta and burger. I will be ‘pokai’ in no time. Budgeting is key and my budget currently says spending RM 70 ++ bucks for lunch is a luxury I soon will not be able to afford if I keep this up. Food was good though, I especially liked the pasta. If you can afford it, then go ahead and enjoy.
