Pizza Corner @ Sunway (Online Order) – Surprisingly good pizzas

So, today, I was too lazy to do the whole self-pickup routine. Instead I decided to go online and order instead. As I was in the mood for pizzas, I focused on that and eventually came across Pizza Corner.

I got onto their website, looked at my options and placed my order. My experience with Pizza Corner can only be described as WEIRD and SURPRISING.

Weird when it came to the payment part and surprising because the pizzas exceeded my expectations.

Ordering on the website was a breeze. They had an array of pizzas to choose from with interesting combinations. You’d see things like “Free Delivery to KL, PJ, Subang Jaya, Puchong, Shah Alam ….”. What they do not say is that it is all within certain distance only. You’d get a phone call from them after you placed your order online. That is when I enquired about the free delivery because it was a tad misleading. Good thing was – delivery cost was only RM 3, cheaper than most other eateries. So, it was not a big deal.

As for the payment …

As you can see, it was clearly stated that “Cash On Delivery” (COD) is the only option for payment. Ever since the Covid Pandemic started, this is the first time I’ve seen an eatery offer this form of payment. While everyone else is all about “no close contact”, these folks are all about it 😄. Then it gets even weirder. I receive a phone from a Lalamove delivery dude, telling me that he has already arrived at the restaurant but I have not made payment yet and to please do so, so that he can collect the food. Huh?? … so, the conversation went something like this …

Him: Ya hello. Saya dah sampai kat kedai pizza. You belum bayar lagi ke?

Me: Tak, sebab saya pilih Cash on Delivery

Him: Yelah, you kena bayar dulu, baru saya boleh ambik pizza. Transfer duit dulu lah.

Me: I tak boleh transfer. The only option available is COD.

Him: You transfer duit dulu lah.

Me: Kalau boleh transfer duit, mesti I dah buat dah. Tapi website dia cakap tak boleh buat online payment, only Cash on Delivery.

Him: So, macam mana?? (talks to the guy from the restaurant, asking him how much is the bill) So, I bayar dulu??

Me: I guess so. You bayar dulu and once you sampai sini with my pizzas, I bayar you balik duit.

I totally did not get this part. The restaurant guy was right there, I can hear him in the backgroud. Isn’t it your job to explain to the delivery rider about the payment. From the looks of it, the delivery rider was not even aware he had to fork out RM 30 before collecting the pizzas. This is the first time I opt for COD where the delivery rider calls me asking me why I have not paid. The restaurant guy was right there, couldn’t he explain about the COD situation? It felt like I was the guy working at Pizza Corner because I was the one who had to explain to the delivery rider on how the payment works at this eatery. It was weird and a tad dodgy.

Good thing was, because this was COD, there is a guarantee that I will receive something. Especially with me owing the delivery rider some money which he definitely will want back. Honestly, at that point, I did not have high expectations of the pizzas because it kindda felt like they have not gotten the hang of running things and it may also reflect on the pizzas I will be receiving 🤔🤔 but it turned out pretty good.

Pizza Corner not only offers pizzas, they also serve pastas, bread, snacks and etc. For the purpose of this review, I shall just focus on the pizzas : https://www.pizzacorner.com.my/pizza/

The pizzas come in 3 sizes:

They also offer some promos :

Spicy Sambal & Tuna, RM 13.30 + Chicken Fajita Pizza, RM 13.60

As it was just me, I went for two of their Personal pizzas which came with four slices each. Half to eat today and the other half for tomorrow.

Chicken Fajita
Spicy Sambal & Tuna

At first glance, especially with the tuna pizza, my immediate reaction was “where is the tuna??”. I was so used to tuna pizzas having scattered pieces of tunas on the top and there was none here. Upon some digging though, it was all underneath the layer of cheese on top.

So, it was basically tuna sambal and it was spicy. However, the spiciness was not a prolong one. Due to the fact that it was scattered all over, it had a surprise effect. You do not know when and where the spicy tuna sambal is, which made it all the more appealing. Bits of spiciness here and there. There was also lots of cheese, bell peppers, onions and olives too. I was impressed. It was ‘sedap’.

Both pizzas had crusts that was soft and airy, light and bouncy. I liked it. Also liked the fact that the pizza toppings here extended all the way to the sides/end of each slice. What usually occurs is that the sides are always left empty, with the pizza toppings focused only in the middle. Here, it extends all the way, it covers the whole pizza. So, it is not just an empty crust that you are left with. You’d get cheese, some onions and some bell peppers.

With the Chicken Fajita, it felt like I was eating a chicken tikka pizza 😄. The pizza had some indian influence. There was bits of paprika chicken scattered all over, with lots of cheese, bell pepper, mushroom and olives. Yum🙂

Overall, despite the weird payment issue, the pizzas were surprisingly good. I certainly would not mind revisiting these guys in the future.

  1. Yes I know this shop. Its in, Sunway mentari run by foreign worker and owner. Looks a little dingy though

    1. Yea. I dont know how/what it looks like, so I cant comment on that. I ordered online and based on that experience, yes I agree. It was all a tad dodgy. The whole payment process was weird as explained in the blog post. I did not have high expectation about the pizzas. Upon tasting though, it tasted good. Definitely a surprise considering the rest of the experience.

      1. Haha yeah, know what you mean. But during these crazy times you want to know where ur food is coming from though. I knw this as I ordered through foodpanda pickup to try it, I was not as lucky as u perhaps. Found hair i food. The lasagna sauce tasted weird, and I do stay nearby. Did some digging and not happy with what I think I saw. I wanted to leave a google review on this but found this blog instead lol.

      2. Yea, totally. I agree. I decided to give Pizza Corner a try because they seem new and the few reviews on Google sounded good enough. Just doing my bit to help restaurants during this difficult times. Besides the payment blunder, my pizzas were okay. However, your experience seem to be a total contrast to mine.
Hair in your food? I would certainly puke 🤢🤮 You best leave a Google review then. Atleast more people will be aware of how good is good, as well as how bad is bad when it comes to Pizza Corner. Our blog readers will read the blog post as well as your comments and decide. That being said, nothing beats Google in terms of coverage 🙂. Your negative experience is worth noting.
It certainly sucks, what you went through. Hope you didnt suffer much damage from the food.
