Broom Artisan Bakery & Kitchen @ Paramount Garden, PJ – Good stuff 😍 (Pork free)

The bunch of us visited this 3 month old cafe for lunch today. We have not seen each other since MCO started and now that we’re all fully vaccinated, we decided to do a short catch up session – in the car, lol. No dining in for us just yet. Personal choice lah.

If you are in the mood for some pastries and/or dessert … Broom offers an array.

… and if pastries alone does not satisfy you, they also offer proper main meals.

Menu

** For now, Broom offers Takeaway and Delivery only. Dining In will be available from this Friday onwards (10 Sept)

Proudly Malaysian, RM 29

I ordered this dish because the combination of fragrant rice + chicken rendang + local ulam + acar + Muar otak – otak + fish crackers sounded appealing to me. I had several ideas in my head on what this dish might look like. It had to have some fanciness to it, right? After all, Proudly Malaysian did cost me almost RM 30.

However, what I received was nowhere close to what I imagined. It was a briyani. This is the first time I’ve seen and eaten briyani served at a cafe… so, that was a surprise. It was not advertise as briyani but that was what it tasted like to me and it sure was good. Sedaaappppppppp πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

** do excuse the messy background. As mentioned previously, our catch up session happened in the car.

Proudly Malaysia included 3 packs which consisted of a bowl of rice with chicken and etc + fish crackers + sambal.

Food was good, I enjoyed this dish tremendously. I do not know if they intended the dish to be a briyani or if it was a case of all the ‘rempah’ and gravy mixing that sort of created a briyani? I dont know but briyani was what it was to me. Soft, fluffy long grain rice, with a large piece of tender, juicy, flavorful chicken thigh. The rendang sauce was delicious, having it with the rice and chicken was da’ bomb. There is also a serving of sweet, picked vegetables, shredded greens, half a salted egg as well as serving of green and red sambal. This dish as a whole was yummy. I wouldn’t mind revisiting Broom just to indulge in Proudly Malaysian again.

Chicken Rendang Pastry, RM 16

The pastry was tasty too. The base was light and fluffy, buttery and in the middle, there was a portion of shredded chicken rendang. Besides tasting good, I liked that it was not flaky. When you are eating in a car, that makes alot of difference, lol. No pastry droppings to worry about.
