My preferences post Covid 19 underwent some changes. Gone were the days where I enjoyed crowded, fully occupied restaurants. Lively chatters and being surrounded by people at every corner is more of a downer these days. Nowadays, quiet and well spaced out eateries is what I fancy. Full Plate is spot on in that regard.
Full Plate is a month old cafe located on the first floor, within the row of shops along Jalan Burhanuddin Helmi. It is opposite Petron, a few doors away from Secret Recipe and directly above 7 Eleven.
This is a quiet, cozy cafe I see myself revisting. I like the view a lot too, you’d literally be facing a busy road – people watching, car watching road watching, anything is possible 😉 . There is WIFI here, which means this could be a cafe I can head to to get some work done. Just me and my laptop while sipping on a cup of coffee.
Full Plate Pasta, RM 25.90 + Frozen Cheesecake, RM 14.90
This is a mutton pasta. It certainly is not a dish I come by usually but I sure did love it. This particular meat wouldn’t be my meat of choice usually but since it is a recommended dish here, I suppose it cant be that bad, right? Bad it was not. The meat was tender and juicy, well cooked. There was no overporwering, lingering taste of the meat neither was there the never ending chewing that sometimes follows. Yay. When the dish first arrives at your table, you’d immediately get an asam laksa aroma. However, when you dig into it, it is something a tad different – asam pedas. Spaghettini was the right choice of pasta as it was a thinner noodle. Thinner noodles meant more coverage of the asam pedas sauce. I loved it. This mutton pasta was awesome.
For lunch, at the moment, the main dish comes with a free serving of soup. There are 2 choices – Potato Leek soup and Creamy Mushroom soup, I opted for the leek soup. It was delicious. Somewhat thick with lots of flavors with bits of duck meat. 👌👌
This was a light and refreshing dessert. It is as its name suggest – a frozen cheesecake with a lemon–ish taste thanks to the lemon curd. So, you’d basically get a nice mix of two distinct flavors, cheese and lemon into one tasty dessert. As you can see from the image above, there are three layers involved. The top being the lemon curd (yellow), the middle being hardened cheesecream? (White) and on the bottom is the cake. The dessert also came with some strawberries and blueberries, which also provided some zesty flavor to the dessert. Overall, a really nice dessert, simple and light.
Would I be back here? Yes I would. I spend lots of time in TTDI, it is my neighborhood after all. Many cafes here but one that is quiet and somewhat hidden – not many. A plus is the fact that their food is good too. So, yea, I’d be back here.
