I ended up having an hour to spare in Kota Damansara. My pet rabbit was in desperate need of some grooming and while waiting for the session to end, I decided pay Oh Apong a visit. This cafe opened doors 4 months ago and is located in a new building – Emporis.
It is a good place to chill and relax. Tucked in a corner, the cafe was relatively quiet and had an easy going vibe. At Oh Apong, they offer you drinks, desserts and pastries. As I’ve already had a solid lunch, what I was in the lookout for was some dessert and so, Oh Apong’s ice cream was a good choice. If you are looking for a proper, solid meal, you’d be better off elsewhere as there are limited food options here. If you are on the lookout for something light, then do consider this cafe.
Parking: This cafe is located in Emporis, a rather new developement. It is a service residence with shoplots on the ground floor, mostly vacant. Plenty of parking available – around the building and in the basement carpark. First hour is free, subsequent hours: RM 2.
Ice Cream Combo (large), RM 11
The ice cream was soft and milky, the texture is almost similar to a soft serve. What sets this cafe apart from most other shops is their use of Gula Apong. Derived from Nipah tree, it is considered to be a healthier option compared to most other sweeteners out there as it undergoes minimal processing and no addition of chemicals.
The ice cream wasn’t too sweet, the sweetness was pleasant, just the right amount. I opted for the large combo which includes a large scoop of ice cream with 3 toppings. The 3 toppings being 2 crunch : Nestum and Coconut flakes and 1 fruit : Mango. It was a refreshing dessert. Tasted good, wasn’t too heavy and sweet.
Would I head back here? Honestly, I do not think so. If it was located anywhere closer to home, I would drop by. Unfortunately, it is located quite a distance away. So, a visit wouldn ‘t be anytime soon.
